Glasses with Safety Glasses

Can anyone recommend some safety glasses that work well with prescription glasses?

Everything i find in the stores around here don't work with prescription glasses.

I walked into WalMart and bought a pair of prescription safety glasses for $40, frames and lenses.

Getting the Rx itself cost a bit more, of course, but I was due for that anyway.

You could always get some WileyX or ESS glasses (mil issue) and then buy the prescription inserts for them. Might end up costing around 200 total, but I'd say yer peepers are worth it.

You know, for all intents and purposes I keep a couple packs of disposable contact lenses on hand for shoot trips. I too am bespectacled (terribly nearsighted, terribly). For most everyday purposes I wear the glasses, and if I go to the range I put in the contacts and then just wear my safety glasses. Though they're "disposable", so long as you put them into solution they are reusable to a certain extent, I've gotten close to two weeks out of a single pair before. You can get a 30 day supply for like 30-40 bucks. You will have to see your doc to get fitted for lenses and get your prescription written down--contact prescriptions are different from spectacle prescriptions.

Though honestly, I'm going to talk to the ol' doc about getting prescription ballistic multi-coated and fog-proof lenses put into a pair of larger, safety type frames. Probably cost around 250 or so, but it'd be worth it.

Two other approaches might be worth considering.

First, see if you can get shatterproof/shatter resistance prescription lenses from wherever you get your glasses.

Second, ESS makes goggles that go over eyeglasses.

the standard poly-carbonate lens material is uber tough.....

I shoot with my regular glasses on, with no side shields and feel adequately protected.

Personally, I use a pair of glass prescription safety glasses. That way I am always wearing protection!

I do one of two things:

Either wear my Bolle Vigilante glasses with the Rx insert.

or

Wear my Bolle Vigilantes with contact lenses.

Either way I want the side protection and polycarbonate in front of my eyes. Vigilantes have easy to swap lenses so I get to pick colors too.

BTW, the Parole are pretty much the same thing but for people that don't have a huge melon like me.

Hoppe's No.9 Safety glasses fit over regular glasses. They make them clear and yellow. I keep a pair in my range bag, though I have prescription safety glasses as well.
