I recently aquired a Glenfield Mod. 60 by Marlin from my wifes father. I took it out shooting just awhile ago. and i noticed some weird behavior.
1. When shooting Federal Bulk .22lr ammo from wally world and Remington thunderbolt ammo every once and a while a round would sound different than others. Rather than the normal small Pow that a .22lr makes it made more of a low pop or ping noise, and ejected the empty casing.
2. after doing the above upon ejection my right eye felt puff of air and crap fly at it. (was not wearing eye protection this time ). I pay attention to my ejections from any gun and noticed it didnt spit the empty casing out but more like puked it with an "explotion" of gunk? if you will....
i thought that oh no the bullet didnt fire completely and was wedged, I ejected all the rounds from the tube fed Mod 60 placed safety on and held back the ejector and looked down the barrel (seems like a dumb thing to do lol) but i could see the light at end of the barrel and no buildup or markings. I inspected the chamber and no visible marks or grinds (i did this for every odd sounding round fired)
I did check the ammo befor fireing, non wer ruster or oddly greased or anything that would warent a dirty fire or ejection
I only shot 22 rounds so far on it and i believe at least 5 or so rounds did the back spit to my eye. there does not a pear to be anything in my eye, just a weird feeling.
any ideas on the problem?
