I bought a glenfield model 25 rifle at a pawn shop recently. It was made in 1971. It came with one magazine and i later bought two new ones. It seems like they are a little loose and about half the time it will not chamber the round properly it will jam on the edge of the chamber and i will have to pull the bolt back and push it forward again to get it to load right. The bolt will push the magazine down a little. The original does not have this problem. Pushing up on the bottom of the mag will make it work just fine. Is there anything to do to fix this or any other magazines that would work better?

I love my Glenfield, but have similar problems with Wal-mart magazines. With mine it seems as though you have to really forcefully seet them to ensure proper feeding. I'll pull it out in a moment and see if there is a better solution.

Yeah its a great gun. It needed a bit of work but it shoots great. Got it for $99 with a red dot sight. Was thinking an older mag would work better if i could find one maybe the new ones are made just a little differently.

On the old ones the release lever is made of thicker steel. I'm pretty sure I have one in the archives sans follower if you want it. Just had mine out. There is alot of play in the magwell, and you can actually have the magazine inserted and held in without having it properly seated.

I found out they aren't real strong when i snapped the release lever right off one trying to bend it thinking i could get it to hold better. I sure wont be trying that again. You have an old one i guess i would take it

Here's mine it aint anything amazing but i love it they're great little guns
