Glock 19 Gen. 3 or 4?

I can't believe that I am posting this (I am usually a fan of blued-steel-and-wood firearms :D), but I shot a Glock 19 recently. It shot really well. I was thinking about buying an HK, but I've decided to add a Glock to my meager collection instead.

After reading on the Interwebs (I probably shouldn't have done that), I saw that apparently Glock had some issues with the early Gen. 4s. I'm curious about whether those have been solved, or if it would be better to stick with the Gen. 3s. There's a used Gen. 3 sitting at my LGS. Any thoughts?

Gaston and his boys will repair them all for FREE. The Glock Model 19 is the most popular pistol in the world. There is very little a reasonable person can do to a Glock that cannot be repaired by Glock.
Pick any Glock .

You'll pay shipping one way if it's not covered under original owner warranty.

It isn't just that the new extractors are manufactured via MIM. Glock changed the "spec" of their extractors.

Otherwise, just switching in a non-MIM extractor would solve the problem...it doesn't

When you say "new," are you referring to Gen. 3 or 4? Or both?

I like my Gen3 17 and 19, and my Gen4 21, these 3 all serve their intended purposes very well. I'd highly recommend a Gen3 19, the Gen3 costs significantly less than the Gen4, although you do get an extra factory mag with the Gen4, but if I need extra mags, I'd buy a few of the Magpuls which IMHO are at least as good as the Glock factory mags at less than half the price.

I had an unpleasant experience with an early Gen4 G-22 that I bought used, but I replaced it with my Gen4 21 that I bought new, and I have really liked it since day one, it's an excellent range gun.

The G21 is a nice firearm, but the regular frame is a little bulky for my hands.
