I am trying to decide which firearm I want to get for my daily CC. I will be carrying IWB. I dont want this to turn into a Glock vs Taurus debate, but if you guys could share technical info that would be great...and over all conceal ability.:)

It appears that the glock is a touch longer, but narrower and lighter. I like the glock, but I also really like the Taurus as I have a 24/7 now and love it and love how it feels in my hands.

Thanks
Joe

Why are you making it hard on yourself? Put the G26 in there, and you have a gun that is smaller in all dimensions. Daily CC = carried a lot; hopefully, shot never.

I've had both and to tell you the truth, I will never get a Taurus again. Always had problems with it and never could rely on it.

My Glock never failed me and would always feed and go bang regardless. Shot fine after 1000 rounds without cleaning, also shot fine when tape and dirt was stuck in the chamber. I also use it in competition and never had a malfunction with 3000+ rounds so far.

The Taurus was too picky and was never reliable even in clean conditions.

the biggest reason why I am hesitant to get the 26 is because i will be using this on the motorcycle as well and having gloves on my concern is the size. You can get the 26 and put a 19 magazine in it right and have the same length grip as the 19 right?

get the glock 19 and don't look back, it is big enough to be a good fighting handgun, but way easy to conceal all day long with little effort.

I don't have any experience with the taurus/tauri.

I currently own a G19 RTF2. I have a little over 500 rounds through it (without cleaning) and I haven't had any malfunctions. It is a very smooth shooter.

My overall experiences with Glocks have been stellar. I would recomend the Glock.

How can you even ask a question between two brands, where one has a horribly spotty track record of just reliability (let alone ergonomics, accuracy, comfort, etc) and the other is the gold standard for a defensive pistol?

Be smart and get the Glock.

I own a 19 and 26 and carry my 19 more frequently than the 26, I would recommend the 19 in a heart beat. It's an all around excellent pistol, is ball bat reliable and perfect CCW piece.

Springfied XDm 3.8.

Better safety system then Glock.
Better trigger pull then Glock.
Better ergonomics then Glock.
At least as reliable as Glock.
Comes with CCW holster & mag pouch.

Not even going there with the Tauri, as it's not in the same legue with either the XDm or Glock..

No.

Better trigger pull then Glock.
Opinion. I disagree.

Better ergonomics then Glock.
Opinion. I disagree.

At least as reliable as Glock.
Time will tell.

Comes with CCW holster & mag pouch.
Glock factory holster is ~$12.
Also, the 3.8 is WAY too damn long in the grip for all day EDC.

I purchased a Glock 17 with rail used this week for $360. It came with 2 mags and maybe was shot twice. My local shop usually sells all Glocks used for $399. This week they were running a 10% off sale. For $360 I just don't see how you can possibly make any other choice. IMO there is no other gun that is more reliable than a Glock 26, 19, 17, 34, etc. A few that are perhaps just as reliable (SIG comes to mind) but none that are more. You will not regret the Glock. You may regret the Taurus. If the Taurus doesn't work properly you are stuck sending it back or trying to sell it for a fraction of what you just paid. The Glock will work better and hold its value better over time. Plus the Glock will have a lot more aftermarket options - from holsters to sights to extended mags. To answer your question, yes the Glock 19 or 17 mag will fit in the 26. The 17 will fit in the 19. In other words, if you go with the smaller Glock you can always carry a backup mag with a lot of extra capacity. Or if the 26 is parked in your house at night for HD you can keep it loaded with a 33 round mag. Personally I think this is silly behavior but it's arguably a feature that you aren't going to get out of the Taurus.

Better safety system then Glock.
AGREED

Better trigger pull then Glock.
Agreed (but glock has better, more positive reset)

Better ergonomics then Glock.
Opinion and I agree

At least as reliable as Glock.
Agreed

Comes with CCW holster & mag pouch.
agreed

Anyone who says otherwise is just drinking the Glock Kool-Aid.

I just got the Taurus 24/7 OSS DS and although its a cool gun with some cool features, the Xd, XDm, Glock are all better guns. I would choose any of those before the Taurus for a carry gun.

With some excellent choices out there like exampled above, i wouldn't ever carry a Taurus Semi Auto.

That totally depends on where you buy it.

If you go in to bass pro shop or a lot of local gun shops and drop the sticker price of 550-600 on a Glock, you aren't ever going to get that back out of that gun. BUT if you were to be a member of the GSSF, a form of law enforcement, get it as a police trade in or simply get a good deal on a used glock then YES... you will recoup all your money and possibly even make a few bucks.

Even with glock, you have to be a smart shopper if you ever plan on selling it and don't want to throw money down the drain.

IMO spending over $500 on a glock is stupid. There are way too many other ways to obtain a glock in the $350-$475 price range that is barely used or possibly even new.

i'd have to say the 24/7. i own one and have not had a single problem with it so far, and as to the ergonomics, i've had everyone in my family handle it. it fits everyone, from my huge paws to my girlfriends tiny ones. not sure about it being picky about ammo, but it feeds wwb and hydrashok just fine. also, the larger 24/7 mags fit in the compact; it comes with one compact mag and one larger one and the grip spacer to fill up the difference

Is this a joke or an IQ test of some sort???

That's just too easy!

The Glock!

What possible reason, other than maybe saving a few bucks, could you possibly have for choosing the Taurus???

Yes, I thought I made that pretty clear in my post...

I purchased a Glock 17 with rail used this week for $360. It came with 2 mags and maybe was shot twice. My local shop usually sells all Glocks used for $399. This week they were running a 10% off sale. For $360 I just don't see how you can possibly make any other choice.

Obviously you have to be a smart shopper...check out www.budsgunshop.com and look at their used selection of guns OR check out gun shop, not sporting goods stores, on a regular basis and over time you will be able to recognize a great deal. Personally, I think I got a great deal on my 17. Nevertheless, if you over pay for a Taurus you're in the same boat but much worse. My experience is that Taurus values drop like a rock, much more so than a Glock.

I have a taurus full size and love it...thats why i am considering the compact version over the glock. I like both guns but I think having many years of experience with the 24/7 the transition will be easier.

thanks for the insight everyone

the biggest reason why I am hesitant to get the 26 is because i will be using this on the motorcycle as well and having gloves on my concern is the size. You can get the 26 and put a 19 magazine in it right and have the same length grip as the 19 right?
Yes, that's a legitimate concern. The G26 is harder to draw.

You can use a G19 mag with an extension over it. Honestly, the shape of the grip gets a little weird, but it solves the problem. The other option is to add an extension to the floorplate of a stock G26 mag. I personally don't like them, though. The extended plates can't have inserts with locking holes, and... well the floorplate extends. So they'll never be as secure as a stock magazine when dropped.

The subcompacts command a really good resale value, if you want to try one on for size.
