Fist a disclaimer: I tried to use the search feature but you can't search less than three letters in a grouping so Glock 20 is out of the question and searching G20 came up empty.

Second the questions: What do you guys know about these two guns. Any expierences with them? Are they a good value? Could the G29 be a good CCW? Any other good 10mm that cost less than a $700?

Third the babbling (you can skip this part): I have recently become interested, again, in owing a 10mm. I love Dan Wesson CBTs but alas if I ever owned one it would be in .45acp. If I owned two the other would be in 10mm.

So began my quest to find an affordable 10mm pistol. I found the

Glock 20
Glock 29
and
Tangfolio Witness 10mm

The tangfolio has a safety lever, which just flat out ruins pistols for me, so I moved on. On the other hand I might not use the 10mm very often and this one can be found for under $400 shipped.

The Glocks look nice but I know very little about how well they hold up to the 10mm. Also I had never before heard of the G29. Seems like it could make a nice CCW as its almost as big as a G19. I like Glocks and I couldn't find any other current production 10mms.

Enough jabbering. Its late. I'm tired and my cat is having kittens so there is no way my fiance' is gonna let me sleep tonight. Every something happens she makes me go over and see even though she knows I don't like kittens; I like guns.

Kitties don't like guns as much as the bullets like the kitties.

I do own 1 evil black kitteh' and a tabby kitteh'

I only shoot 'em with the squirt bottle when they're pissin' me off!

The G29 takes the G20 mags, and there are adapters so that it's not just the end of a grip and then a mag, but the grip is added on by the adapter on the mag to accommodate the 15 rounds more comfortably.

Well, I can't tell you much about those models right now but I just ordered my G20 today, so I can tell you on Friday.:D What I can say from my research on the various forums is the Glock seems to be the most reliable as far as holding up to high round counts from the 10mm, the Witness reviews were about split on how well the guns held up so I decided to pass on them. The 1911 10mm's seem to be O.K. as long as a recoil buffer is used. I chose the Glock because it seemed like the best value to me but I cant really afford any of the 1911's either.

Alan Dan- Dose it have a lot of flip and is painful on the wrist or is it more of a straight push back?

Wrist flipping I don't like but guns that push back alot I am fine with.

I picked the 20 over the 29, mainly for the extra capacity and I'm a big guy so I like the fullsize grips. I have smaller guns for concealed carry, this will mainly go with me when I go fishing as the further upriver you go here the more likely you may run into a black bear or tweaker. If I planned on carrying it a lot I think I would go with the 29. As far as recoil goes, thats a pretty personal thing. I love shooting my .44 mag, granted not all day but the recoil doesn't bug me till I get over 50 rounds or so. If your worried about the recoil, see if you can find a range with rental guns and try one out.

I got a G20 last year, and have been pushing various reloads through a lone wolf barrel. I generally dislike Glocks, but I really like the G20. It works all the time, and is plenty accurate. I shoot some pretty warm loads, but recoil has not been an issue for me. The large frame absorbs most of the recoil, and I also use a 22lb spring. I went through the same thing you did, trying to find a pistol in 10mm that I could live with. I think in the end you will find that the G20 is a good buy.

I can only imagine the recoil of the Glock 29 with full power 10mm! Is it similar or worse than a Ruger SP101 with full power .357mags?

I have a coupla G-20's. I hafta strongly disagee with Ala Dan, in that recoil is far from "bad". On the contrary, it's VERY manageable in the 20 even with full power loads. And, there is no pain of any kind! I'd much rather do a long session with the Glock than with any of my .357 mag revolvers shooting equivalent loads. Don't own and have not shot a G-29, as my hands are too big for me to get a good grasp that lil' thing.

I chose the 20 over the 29 because I don't think either is a good choice for carrying conceled. I use mine as a backpacking/outdoors gun and like the bigger gun. This gives me the power of hot .357 rounds with the capicity of most 9 mm pistols.

Recoil of the 10 mm is over rated in my opinion. Even with hot Double Tap loads recoil is considerably less than hot .357 loads from most standard revolvers.

IMO the Glock 20 is the best 10mm out there, that's not to say I will not add a good 1911 10mm to my collection one day. If you want CCW then get the 29 if you want a woods gun then get the 20 but either way you will be happy.

Also Double Tap is the best ammo I found for the 10mm
