Re barreled my Glock 40MOS with a 6" Alpha Wolf barrel about 2 years ago. Back then the stainless steel "LoneWolf" barrels seemed to be fizzling away, and all that seemed available was the black coated "Alpha" Wolf barrels....so I went with one of those. Im happy with it, I did have to chamfer it ever so slightly in order to get it to cycle smoother. I understand there is a trade off in cycling reliability and how tight the fully supported chamber is. The more "fully supported" an autoloading chamber is, the more fussy cycling might be with certain ammunition.
I do need to make sure my handloads are crimped more than the loads I've developed using the stock Glock barrels.
*Note- the "plunk" test is irrelevant here, they must actually be cycled in the gun. Rounds not crimped enough will plunk fine, but will hang up when actually cycling.
Now, I've recently acquired a Glock 20 and am looking into getting a new barrel. I've noticed they have the raw stainless "lone wolf" barrels available again, in addition to the black coated Alpha Wolf barrels..... what is the main differences in these barrels, and any real experiences with them are appreciated.
