Ok guys I have just purchased a glock 20 gen 3sf and I am wanting to know did you change the recoil spring in yours or change anything see I have other glocks but they are bone stock nothing added no needed IMHO but I've heard with the 10mm I need a heavier recoil spring to handle the heavier loads or it will just trash the brass so what do y'all think

I replaced my recoil spring with a EFK Dragon unit. I was less worried about the spring weight and more worried about the plastic guide rod.

I put a heavier spring with an SS guide rod assembly in mine. I don't have a problem with plastic Glock guide rods, but I wanted a heavier spring to ease the frame battering from my hot hand loads. I think the spring I chose was 20 or 22 lbs.

I've just load and shot. A few hundred rounds through it and has been flawless. It is now my woods gun. 15+1 of 41 mag lite performance. Awesomeness!

I run a Wolff guide rod and the stock weight spring with lite hand-loads or 40/357, but I always jump to a Wolff 22lb spring with hot loads I work up, or Underwood type stuff that runs really hot.

With factory ammo, I can get away with the factory set-up. But I use the KKM barrel for heavy reloads with 22# Wolff spring and guide rod. Necessary if you plan on reloading, IMO.

So what I am gathering is that if you want to run hot to hotter handloads you need a heavier recoil spring

No, but many folks prefer to use a heavier spring when loading the 10mm up to it's "full potential" to dampen felt recoil and minimize frame battering (in theory). If you plan on reloading the fired brass, I would recommend an aftermarket barrel with tighter chamber dimensions to eliminate or at least minimize bulged cases (Glock smilies).

good luck

Only change I made to mine is a Lone Wolf barrel. It's my woods gun also...

Of course, you'll have "no issues" with your completely stock G20...at least no problems of which you're aware.

Hint: It's a matter of simple h.s. physics. You really think that a G20 should have the same recoil spring weight as a G17?

Another Hiint: Per Wolff Springs, if your pistol is ejecting brass farther than about 8', then you need a stronger recoil spring. I guarantee you a factory stock G20 will eject just about any 10mm loads farther than 8'.

I've got a Gen. 4 with stock springs and a Lone Wolf barrel. Shoot middle of the road loads. No problem with cycling or battering the brass, only problem is finding same. Need a spotter as brass goes about 45 feet away at 4 o'clock. My Para Elite Hunter does the same. Going to have to build a brass catcher...
