they are sent in

no recall will be done - so you will only get the replacement recoil spring
is you need it/request it

Does that jive with what others have heard?

glock prides themselves at claiming they've never issued a recall. they only do "upgrades". i think it's pretty sad that they are not recalling these and changing them out for all customers.

Latest word I have gotten

The word I’m so tired of the word to the point it’s nettlesome. Simply identify the source by name, position, and organization instead of the generic “WORD”.

So they're upgrading by going backwards.

Now thats Glock Perfection.

About time Glock Kool-Aid drinkers find out they bleed as well.

The dual recoil spring was the only reason i wanted to get a Gen 4 Glock 19. Forget that then, i'll stick with the trouble free gen 3

If true, I feel vindicated. I've gone round and round with fellow Glock owners about the new recoil system in the gen 4 guns. I've held from the beginning it was a mistake to do that with the 9mms and Glock only did it to keep similar systems of operation between all models, not because it improved the performace. To the contrary, it worsened reliability.

apparently gock is not issuing a recall for current gen4 owners as the slide have to be altered to accept the gen3 assembly. they don't want to spend what would amount to pocket change to them.

that's a pretty cheap move from the maker of the worlds most popular autopistols if you ask me...

(not to mention the reliability issues that caused this change in the first place.... )

yep. at this point, the new gen4's will only be different from the gen3's as far as the grip is concerned, and the heavier SF trigger pull.

Bird is the word
:p

The new recoil spring assembly does seem to have been a classic case of "if it ain't broke, keep fixing it until it is." I am still on the original one in my 12-year-old G19.

No serious Glock guy approved of the GEN4 changes. There is nothing wrong with the real Glock recoil spring. Just change it every 3000/5000rds.

Due to lazy, incompetent cops/armorers that don't maintain their weapons. Change your recoil spring assembly every 3000rds. and you're fine.

They will have to replace almost the entire pistol. Plus buy new molds to make the modified GEN4 frame. Lotta coin.

You (REAPER4206969) missed the point being made entirely!:what: I am not addressing Vickers. The “Word” as in information came from whom?? Where did Vickers get his information?

Probably a Glock Rep. Glock is very open about things, you can call Glock USA and ask. Report back if you do.

glock's course of action will be like any other company--the cheapest viable option, which will prob be in the form of a modified gen3 recoil assembly. either that, or simply a lighter rate gen4 system...

lot cheaper than moding frames/slides

are you still waiting for a gen4 GAP, reaper?

i don't think you'll find very many industry folks like larry vickers dropping contact names on anonymous internet forums....

I don’t believe he Vickers got the “Word” from a burning bush. Simply stated if it had read “The word from Glock” there would be no issue with the “Word”. Anonymous sources are what they are, no matter the author of the statement standing in the industry.

my OP concerning this issue is pretty much self explanatory.

GLOCK approved the changes. Are they not serious about their product?

that was never in question. it is obvious, however, that gaston is no longer at the helm of this company.

And apparently..... thats a shame.
Yep. Every major change from the standard design has been a failure (Ambi mag catch/M1913 rail/crescent serrations/GEN4 recoil spring assembly/cross bolt safety. Time will tell the fate of the reversible mag catch and add-on backstraps.
