In the lastest all "1911" issue from Guns&Ammo, they did sand/dirt/water tests with various 1911s. They did well...meaning the fired, worked, etc.
As you can "read" from the Glock 21 tests, enough mud or whatever will choke it, any gun. If not the gun, then the mags will be an issue.
Larry Vickers did these types of test years ago with 1911's, Glock 21 and a H&K. The H&K "won", 1911 second, 1911 third and the Glock 21 failed. proving the point that PaladinX13 was making.
Regardless, the 21 is a tough gun...no question. IMHO, I think a lot of the "popular" guns are "tough".
