I am considering a G22 or 23. My question pertains to the concealability of each gun. The 23 seems like it would be easier to conceal but when the AWB ends I like the thought of 15 rounds of .40 S&W. Does anyone who has fired or owned both have any recomendations. I have fired a 23 and felt it was a gook shooter but I've never seen a 22 up close. I could always get the 23 and when Non-Nutered Magazines are available by them and carry as back up mags.

Pre-ban mags for the 23 hold 13 rounds, only 2 down from the G-22's. A

plus 2 mag extension brings it up to the same. With either gun I think

ammo capacity is the least of your concerns (unless you live/work in a lot

worse neighborhood than I do!) I would be inclined to base my decision

on hand to gun fit, and witch gun I LIKE better. I can adjust my clothes to

conceal the gun.

I have both. More often than not, the 23 goes with me. I have pre-bans for it (for the 22 also). Only real difference between these two guns is the length of the butt and barrel/slide length. The shorter barrel really has no effect on the recoil. Recoil is sharper than the 19 but still by no means unmanagable. If I had to chose between them, the 23 would go with me. BTW, I have the 15 rounders for the 22 and they're really not that expensive, but the 23s tend to run nearly $100 for FML mags. I have a friend who chooses a 22 for off-duty carry and conceals it fairly well. Shoot 'em both and get the one you like best.

They call me Khornet.

I carry a G22. I'm not big- 5'9"/174 lb- but I have no problem concealing it in a Tucker Texas Heritage IWB in summer, and a Fobus slide in winter.

The G23 is hard to beat. Its small enough to conceal and large enough to easily control. I carry it with 13 round LE mags pretty much 24-7.

The G23 is my standard carry pistol. Don't forget that you can use G22 magazines in the G23... often I carry a 13-round mag in the G23 with one or two G22 mags as reloads.

G23

The G23 is a common LE issue gun now. Kind of like one gun for uniform, plainclothes, off duty. NYPD may have been on to something when they issued the 19 (same size as 23) back in, IIRC, 1992. The midsize Glock seems to pull that mission off without a hitch-like having cake & eating it too.

If you get the 22, you'll occasionally wish it were just a PINCH shorter, like in t-shirt weather...if you get the 23, I can't imagine wanting it any larger. The 19/23/32 is the jack-of-all-trades size in Glock form.

Finally: I've never seen a used midsize Glock in the local stores or classifieds. Their owners must be very happy!

Whether 11+1 PC mags or 13+1 as designed, you won't feel underarmed with a mag of designer JHP.

IMHO if you are willing to carry a full size Glock you would be better served with a G17. It is the original Glock design and modern 9mm ammo is as effective as 40SW without the stress on the gun and shooter.

I went to the store intent on getting the Glock 23, but I came away with the XD .40. THe guns are almost the same size and I.ve been wanting an XD so it was a good excuse. I'll let you all know how it shoots.

I can :(

While I really admire the size to power ratio of the compact Glocks the grip is just a tad short for my hand. No real problem with the older models as Pierce makes something called the "grip enhancer" which is just a very slight, but just enough for me magazine extension (no extra rounds). These won't work on anything but second generation and earlier guns though.

To me it's not a question of how many rounds each carries but rather how big your paws are...

My vote here is for the G23 due to it's size and ammo capacity when using pre-ban mags [13 rds.]. Great carry package. ;) There's nothing wrong with the G23 and post ban mags either. 10+1 of a good .40 round is just fine for most social purposes.

Not that there's anything wrong with the G22, but I feel that the G23 is one of the best mid sized pistols that Glock has.

They are just as accurate as the larger G22 but easier to conceal.

I have a G32 with a additional G23 bbl. for a dual pistol setup.
