Hey guys (in that gender non-specific way),

I was going to buy a glock 23 for punch and concealability. I just found a good deal on a full-size G22 (new/rebuilt $469 including 2 mags and stuff). Now, I cannot conceal-carry just yet, but I am going to put in for it within the month.

Question:

Do any of you conceal a G22? If so, have you had any problems? Any IWB users out there?

Thank you very much.

HG

P.S. what do you guys think of that price? I was going to get a used G23 through AIM, but it was previously owned by cops, which means it was likely shot quite a bit.

I conceal a full-size Glock daily. never had a bit of trouble.

Though $469.00 seems a little high. You can get them brand new here for $459.00.

Any way you go, Glock is a great choice.

Try an AKER FLATSIDER holster for concealment. Holds tight to the body, and is VERY comfortable.

That's about what I paid for a rebuilt G22 a couple years back, but that was in CA, and I've noticed the prices here in Oregon are a lot lower. I don't think it's a bad price, but I'm probably not the best judge of that.

As far as concealing one, it's my everyday carry. I use a Don Hume IWB clip on holster, with no problems. Been carrying it that way for about 8 months now. I carry whenever I'm outside. When I'm inside at home, it's either on me, or within arms reach. I'd eventually like to try a CTAC, but the Don Hume does ok for now.

I have, on occasion wanted something a good deal smaller for carry, and am still deciding what that is. For now, I dress around the gun (which, truth be told, isn't that difficult), and admit to myself that when I do get a smaller gun, it will most likely be mainly a back up piece.

Maybe that was true a few decades ago, when cops were permitted to shoot at armed criminals. Nowadays, being previously owned by a police department means the gun was probably shot once or twice per year, but carried and handled daily. Might have some holster wear, but with Glock's tennifer finish, that's no problem. The sole exception would probably be if the gun was used by a SWAT team, and I'm under the impression that SWAT teams seem to prefer 1911s.

the price

Yeah, I know I can find the price a bit cheaper online, but there is that whole, 'helping out the local business' thing as well as the price of shipping (usually $25, from what I have seen) as well as FFL transfer fees (another $25, same price quoted by every shop I have asked), so in the end, buying the gun for $459 would turn it into a $510, not to mention just being a pain.

We'll see.

Going to call the guy on monday. Thinking this sounds like a decent enough deal...

that, and dammit, I just want to buy a good gun

I carry a G-22 daily both on duty and concealed.
When carrying concealed it rides in a DeSantis Cozy Partner IWB. I also have a Galco Combatmaster that wear sometimes when I'm not concerned about concealment.

helping out the locals is one thing, and i don't mind paying a little extra to the local guy if he'll occasionally shoot me a great deal somewhere else (used guns, especially).

however, there is a marked difference between 'helping out the local', and 'letting the local rip you off'. not saying your guy is ripping you off, but am saying your mindset will get you ripped off. been there myself a time or two.

new glock 22's range from $450-500 here, depending on store. i wouldn't pay more than that -or even anywhere near that- for a rebuilt gun. (rebuilds run $399 here)

You wont have a whole lot of trouble concealing a 22, it was my first handgun. They conceal pretty well, but are a bit heavy. The price isnt bad depending on where you live. I can buy a Glock 22 in Phx for about 450 and a Glock 35 for about 525. In Georgia a 22 runs about 525 and the 35 is about 600.

I recently switched to a G22 for CCW. For me, the critical issue is keeping the butt of the grip tucked in close to my body, and that means an IWB holster with aggressive cant. I prefer less cant (nearly straight drop), but my IDPA runs haven't suffered from the change, and the gun hides well enough. I'll need new shirts for summer, anyway. :)
