I am trying to compile data with regard to frame battering. So I am looking for G23 owners who use the stock recoil spring. If so how many rounds approx have you fired and are there any signs of frame battering or other damage to your Glock? Thanks.
I own three of them. Two have had less than 5,000 rounds through, and show no sign of battering (hardly surprising, no?) The other has had well over 50,000 rounds through it, and guess what? Still no signs of battering!
I toss the recoil springs on all my glocks every 1000 rounds. Same thing on the sig's. A fresh recoil spring makes for more reliable functioning on a self defense piece. I dont know if the frame would get battered, but.............they are cheap. If I was shooting a lot of targets and running the gun day and night, I might go longer between swaps or buy a solid guide rod and high quality spring for it. I think the stock ones are a little on the weak side. But they do function perfect.
I've had five G23's that saw anywhere from ~2k rounds to >30k rounds. All used the factory springs, except for the first one that I put a Harrts recoil reducer in because I was young and gullible and a gadget freak. None ever showed signs of frame battering.
