I'm moving to Arizona, so warm weather carry is going to be a way of life. I'm not the biggest Glock fan, but I think that the 26 may be ideal for my CCW needs out there. I already own a P-3AT that was going to be my primary carry in a pocket holster, but I want something else that is very concealable and offers more in the way of ability.

Corrosion because of sweating is obviously a big concern, and the Glock seems to have this well covered, I also intend to add some night sights, but my main question is how best to carry the 26.

Would current owners recommend pocket carry (seems a little big for this) or some kind of strong side set up.

I want the rig to be as flat, concealable, and unobtrusive (read comfortable) as possible so I was thinking about a Kydex holster.

Any suggestions appreciated.

I have a G26 that I carry IWB in a Blade-tech kydex holster. The benefit is that the holster is thin, and doesn't absorb sweat. I also like the fobus paddle holster. Its cheap and works well, but is slightly less concealable than the IWB setup.

best regards

No I wouldnt recomend pocket carry. Not for me anyway.
I'm a big guy with big pockets and the 26/27 is still a little much to try to slip in a pocket.

I've had great results with a galco ultra deep cover.
The bonus of being able to tuck your shirt in with it covers the times when I wear shirts that must be tucked (which is most of the time anymore)
The UDC just dissapears when I wear it. It's supprisingly stable too.

I have pocket carried my G-26 for a couple of years now I also carry it in an IWB. Pocket carry makes for a difficult draw unless the pockets have large openings, this requires that you evaluate every pair of pants you buy to determine if the pockets are suitable(always bring the gun when you buy pants!). you will also need a good stiff wide belt to hold up your pants. IWB makes for a more consistent draw.

I used to carry a 26 in a soft nylon, IWB clip-on holster from Uncle Mike's. It was very comfortable in the hot south Florida weather.

I carry my G27 in Fist kydex either IWB or OWB. They are very thin and about the most concealable holsters I've tried. Another bonus over leather is they don't creak in high humidity. Most of their leather designs can be made in kydex. I like the 7K OWB and the K7 IWB in ultra thin kydex. Here is the addy www.fist-inc.com

I like the UCR from Threat Solutions. I can carry in the front right pocket (jeans or docker style) just as easy, but I buy pants with big pockets for that reason.

If you are going to carry concealed, you might want to drop a NY1 trigger spring in it. The NY1 is also more durable (less likely to break) than the stock coil spring.

I often carry my G26 in a Comp-Tac C-TAC holster IWB.

It is pretty comfortable, as I usually wear it with shorts and an untucked T-shirt, so the Kydex is next to my skin. FWIW, I am 6 feet tall and weigh about 190. The G26 has proven too large for my size and wardrobe. YMMV.

Oh, I also have had no rust issues due to sweating while wearing this rig. It has a sweat guard, and it usually works pretty well at keeping sweat only on the kydex and plastic. The G26 is MUCH more sweat friendly than you Kel-Tec, I have and carry a P3AT in my pocket when not able to hide something else.

I also would recommend the Ashley 24-7 Big Dot Express sights if you go with the 26.

They are cheap at Brownells if you get the discount (I have a C&R license) and the tritium is bright.

Goalie

How did the 26 prove to be too big for you - width, weight ?

Thanks

Maybe it's just me, but I found the Side Armor IWB uncomfortable and bulky. There are better (maybe not prettier) holsters out there like the UCR and G-Code.

Newton,

The G26 in a pocket just looked like a brick or a gun in my pocket. I can carry my Kel-Tec and my wife doesn't notice. I can throw in a S&W 642 and it bulges just a little, but man, people might not know you have a gun in your pocket, but unless you dresss in cloths with large pockets and that are loose enough, everyone will know you have something in your pocket with a G26.

For me, it seems that ,in your pocket, just a little bit of length and a little bit of width make a big difference. Like I said, YMMV, but I can hide that G26 with a T-shirt and shorts easily with the C-TAC, but putting it in a pocket just looked a little obvious to my wife.

Thanks Goalie.

I'm thinking I'll still get the 26 for occasional carry, but that little P-3AT looks like it may be my "always" gun.

Thanks all, great input.

Phoenix.

Haven't found a place to live yet (and only 3 weeks to go) but Chandler looks to be ok, and it's near to where I'll be working.

Cave Creek, Fountain Hills, and Carefree were awesome but too far away from my office.

I am defnitely looking forward to finding a nice remote patch of desert for my own private shooting sessions.

Any advice appreciated.
