Glock 27 or Glock 36

Well, the 27 will fit all your 26 holsters, personally I would go 27 before 36 but the 36 does give you something a little different, a little bigger than your 26 and smaller and lighter than your 1911.

As far as cartridges go, I personally kind of like .40 better. And my 27 has been great, really won me over to the Glock-side. Especially after I put a smooth faced trigger in it.

I had this same dilemma a few months ago. I went with the G27 since I already have a great .45 with the Sig P220 Equinox. I would still be interested in a G36 one of these days.

I own the both 27 and the 36. I would recommend the 27 for you. It will fit in the holster for your 26. Incidentally, my 36 rides in the holster for my G23... that should give you an idea of its relative size as compared to the G23 and the G27.

The 27 is noticeably smaller and affords 3 more rounds depending on your magazine choice. But even more importantly, you can back up your G27 mag with a 13-round or a 15-round backup if you like. With the 36, you can back it up with another 7 rounder and that's it. The other Glock 45 magazines won't fit in it.

Shooting impressions are a bit disappointing for the 36 as well. Many people note that the slow push recoil of a .45 is more comfortable than the snap of the .40. I've found the G36 to recoil much like a .40. It tends to have a snappy recoil in my experience, thus negating one of its last perceived advantages over the 27.

I have several Glocks and the 36 is my least favorite. 'Course, I do still have it don't I?

Personally I want to make a 30/36, probably use the 30SF frame and then put a 36 slide on it to lighten it up a hair and trim that blocky top end as much as possible.

I did, and would again. pick the 36 over the 27. It was an ammo issue as the 36 shoots the same ammo as my 1911's. The 27 was just too small for my hands in such a recoiling caliber. I found the 36 more accurate to shoot. In spite of a few posts to the contrary, I have had zero problems with mine. I carried mine for 7 or 8 years and have only recently replaced it with a Kahr CW9. There was nothing wrong with the 36, I still have it, I just wanted a new pistol.

I haven't regretted my G36 one bit. I haven't shot a ton of .45's but I don't notice much in the way of abusive recoil. I assume it's worse than a heavier .45, but even after 100 rounds in a short period of time, my hands feel fine.

I was looking at the G36 today. I tried fitting it to my G26 shoulder holster. Won't fit. Quite disappointed about that! The slide in the rear stuck out a little too far to snap shut. This was due to the trigger guard. The G36 fits my owb holster....but I paid good $$ for that shoulder rig too......This will be factored into the decision.
