Looking at the Glock 36, it seems to hold many things in common with the 26, 27, 30, and a few more. Especially that the grip is shorter to accommodate flush fit magazines for better concealment.

The only problem is that I have never seen Glock 36 flush fit magazines. Has anybody else?

No not flush. Mine sticks down past the grip a ways and the front is just right to pinch my finger. I ended up putting the no extra round Pearce pinky extenders on my 36 mags. Those actually seemed to improve the shooting by giving a better grip and not pinching of course.

I've never seen a flush fit magazine either. If that existed the 36 would only have 5+1 capacity at most.

I really wish my G36 had a longer grip with a flush magazine with 6+1, instead of the current layout. My guess is that Glock made it look like a skinny G30. However, the G30 can take a flush magazine base plate for 9+1 instead of the 10+1 "orthopedic shoe" looking extended base plate.

That's exactly what I think of the G36 magazine base plate. It looks like an orthopedic shoe. Too bad it isn't orthopedic for my pinky.

Great points. I would also prefer if the Glock 36 just had a full grip like the 19 and 23 compacts. It would be the same size, and with a less awkward magazine change.

No. Even if they did, it would only be a five-round magazine, reducing the already marginal capacity even further. I've commented on this many times as being a design oddity I don't care for. Make it a full length grip with a flush fitting, seven-round magazine and I would like it a lot better.

Presumably, the reason for making the "orthopedic shoe" base plate is to you can rip out the magazine in case it gets stuck. At least that's the reason the early Sigmas and Steyrs have this awful grip cutout. This is especially awful on a gun that has a short grip, already.

I've always wondered why Glock felt the need to do this ONLY to the G36. Does the G36 lack the cutout hole behind the mag well, maybe?

I bet the reason has something to do with their injection molding setup. They probably repurposed some of the same tooling that makes the other baby Glocks frames, and it would have cost a lot of money to make the grip longer.

I agree with the other Baby Glocks in one sense. I'd guess Glock was trying to keep the pistol short like the G26 and G27. Then someone figured out a 5 round magazine gun that is bigger than a snubnose revolver wouldn't sell.

That baseplate is the only thing I truly dislike about my G36. I need to get off my keister and buy the Pearce replacements.
