I'm considering the purchase of a Glock.

I have numerous other 1911 pistols so I usually have plenty of .45 ammo in the supply chain.

The Glock pistol would be didicated for outdoor carry in the woods, hiking, fishing, hunting, backpacking, etc..

Wondering if the 10mm has disinct advantage over the .45 ?

Or should I just stick with my 1911's ?
(Considering Glock for outdoor carry due to corrosion resistance, poor field condition reliability, no condition 1, no external safety, etc..)

What region do you live in or plan to carry the pistol in? I think the type of wildlife you may encounter would be the deciding factor. If you're in bear country, get the 10mm and load it with hard-cast ammo.

All things being equal, the 10mm will give you better penetration which is one of the primary considerations for large game.

Just my $.02.

For the outdoors, regardless of bears or not, I'd get the ten. I'd have to buy dies, brass and stuff, too, though. I've got all the .45 reload tools and molds and loads, etc. Still, the 10 is more useful afield. If you have a .45 already, though, why not just carry that?

I prefer revolvers, though. Shoot rabbits with .38 wadcutters and big animals with .357 Magnum out of the same gun with just a few clicks of the elevation adjustment. You can do the same with .44 spcl/magnum. And, revolvers tend to be more accurate than autoloaders at longer ranges.
