What are ya'll thoughts on the glock 30, i was thinking of getting one for open carry in the woods instead of my beretta 96 because of the size and i also wanted something in a different caliber and also affordable to shoot.I wanted a .357sig but ammo isn't as cheap .45 and i dont reload. Thanks :)

Possibly one of the most accurate out of the box handguns that you can get. It has a terrific feel to it. However, some don't like the big, bulky grip. You'll have to shoot one to see if you like it for sure or not. I have small hands but I like the thick grip.

It's a very accurate gun and very easy to shoot. I have mine modified with a 3.5# connector, extended slide stop lever and Mepro night sights. The magazines for the G30's full sized brother, the G21, will also work for the G30. Therefore, you can get 13 round mags. :D

If it's gonna be for open carry, why not have the capacity, range and power advantage of a G21 or, better yet, a G20? Compacts are for CCW. I carry a Witnes Compact 10mm for CCW, but in the hills I carry a S&W 1006.

two thumbs up

You either like the grip or you can't stand it. I find the heft and thickness to my liking; I think it dampens the recoil. It's a very accurate pistol with a lot of firepower for its size and weight. Mine, with nightsights, is my preferred bedside handgun. I'm currently loading Cor-Bon Pow'rBall.

The trick is to get the brick with the hole drilled in it to accurately shoot 11 rounds of .45ACP without a reload, being lighter than a 1911, and able to use 13-rd., G21 mags. :)

Glock 30 is for CCW!

How do you think the 230-gr. +P Rangers (990 fps in 4" pipe) will perform in its short barrel?

Glock 30 is a heckuva good gun. I'm with some others, though, in that I don't see it as being preferable if you're gonna open carry. It is lighter than the G21, though, so I can see where you'd want to carry it instead.

I just want something lighter than my beretta for open carry. btw i don't have to worry too much about bears just coyotes, wild hogs and maybe a bobcat.

DoubleTap 185gr GDHP... 1160 fps / ~600 ft/lbs... And for dangerous four legged critters, just get a heavy recoil spring and use .45 Super...

.45 Super is a lousy round for defense against humans. Just about any commercial .45ACP h.p. would be superior.

Nothing wrong with using the G30 for "outside" carry. You can always use a G21 mag with an A&G sleeve, giving a full grip, but still having a lighter, smaller pistol. Ayoob claims 2" groups @ 300 yds. with his G30, so they MUST be outstanding.
