Glock 30s

I'd like to know if it makes much difference in feel, when in the waist band...
I know people are complaining, but the slide really is the most uncomfortable part about carrying my 21... Just feels so bulky, when I compare it to the 19.

Glock 30

I carried a Glock 20 for several years and switched to a Glock 30 about a year ago. I carry mine in a blade tech IWB, the same with the 20. The 30 obviously is a smaller gun, and the grip doesn't present a concealability issue as does full size guns. I don't know how much experience you have with short, stubby guns that shoot big bullets, but I have carried full sized service pistols for years. And I have big hands. So when I bring that 30 out into a presentation, I immediately notice the difference in the grip, since I can only wrap two of my fingers around the grip ( yes I know abt mag extensions), and then there is the short sight radius. I have worked a lot with the 30, and feel comfortable with it now. It is like any other platform, you have to train with it. You have to practice, practice, practice. Practice drawing, get the proper grip, all you basic skills. Overall I like the 30, very compact for a 45 and if you become comfortable with it, it will serve you well.

I'm shopping between the 30s and a gen 4 30.

I know some of the glock trainers were putting 36 slides on the 30's for awhile. I'm thinking the smaller SF grip frame is more of a plus than the somewhat slimmer slide.

I'd like to know how it shoots for you.

I have a 30 SF and do not like the 10 round magazines with oversize base plate due to pinky pinch; swapping the factory base for a Pearce version did not eliminate the pinch.
I prefer and use the flush fitting 9 round magazines; no room for pinky, but no pinch either.
With the flush magazines I prefer 185 gr. bullets for control / speed of follow up shot(s).
Despite leaving them loaded for several months, the flush magazines still only accept 8 rounds, not 9; oh well, the springs will last a little longer.

I'll give a review, with backstory.
I was looking for something new, to replace the 1911 that I had sold. I think it was in the late 90's. I wanted something in .45ACP, since I already had everything to reload for it.
Luckily for me my friend owned a gun store with an attached indoor range, and rented pistols to shoot on the range, so I had the ability to try different ones out first to see if they fit me.
The Glocks were the last ones that I tried ( I had a little anti-Glock in me ). The 21 was too big for me, so when my friend got the new 30 in, I just figured that I would try it, but I was still soured by how the grip felt on the 21.
I had also tried a HK USP compact, and was not impressed, so I was not expecting much from the smaller 30.
Well, I was MORE then impressed by how well it performed, and how well it fit me, which had alot to do with it's performance.
I had won a little Taurus .38, in a Taurus match the month before, so I traded it in on the 30.
So, basically, I have had mine for 14? years.
Now, there are things that I have changed that I didn't like.
1 : I changed the sights to Novak Carry Sights. ( lower profile, and STEEL. I was worried about the durability of the PLASTIC sights. )
2 : I wasn't crazy about the slide release button on the Glocks ( 1911 guy likes extended ) so I replaced the stock one with an extended one.
3 : I later replaced the trigger with an aluminum trigger ( less sloppy and more positive feel, again 1911 guy. )
4 : This one was just an I'll try it just to see how I like it. I bought a set adhesive grip patches that feel like cloth so when you sweat your not holding greasy plastic. They're still on it today. ( lived along the Mississippi...huuuummmmiiiid.)
5 : I replaced the magazine caps with Pierce finger grip caps, so that I had a more positive grip on the pistol. ( personal thing here, the stock ones may be just fine for you.)
I have placed in the top 3 in Glock only matches with it twice with WWB ammo. I was a competetive shooter then, so this is not going to result for everyone.
In the 10+ whatever years that I have owned it, it has never had a single failure of any kind, with anything that I have tried in it as far as different ammo, even my hand loads. It hasn't had any broken parts. And it still could out shoot me. Mine really likes 230 Remington Golden Sabers, as far as accuracy,so that's what I keep it loaded with for carry or at home.
I fully expect that it will still be serving faithfully long after I'm gone.
Was that a decent review of the Glock 30 ?

I would like to know if it is on the "short frame" and if there is any meaningful reduction in the grip size over the old style. I never liked the 30's wide slide, either, and have commented a number of times that a dedicated .45 model could have a narrower slide.

I got mine when they first came out, so its not the SF. Sorry for any confusion. The OP used a small case s like he was putting 30 in plural.

I also don't see what the generic modifications have anything to do with a review of the G30s. Also liking my 1911s and my new Ruger 22/45, AND my Glocks, and, having fired over 300k rounds through my Glocks, I'd suggest that you spend a little time and very little money, using the factory trigger with an aftermarket connector and that you polish all the mating surfaces of the firing mechanism.

sorry

sorry for the response, i wrote another review on it with a new thread!
I think it's great. Small slide makes a difference. anyone who has ever used the g30 or g21 knows that the slide release is not the best. with this new glock 30"S" not sf it's much easier to manipulate. i believe i'm one of the only ones here where i am locally. fits it some g19 holsters which is a positive. the only thing i wish it had was the gen4 magazine release.
