Well, since I am on a self imposed hiatus from buying guns or ammo during the furlough, I find myself wanting a G30S. I have a 36, love it, but to have 10 vs 6 in the mag appeals to me. Even considered just getting the frame. So, any G30S shooters with opinions on the pistol? Good or bad. Thanks.

I haven't had enough range time to make a solid decision yet. I bought one back in June, but I had to send it back because the barrel was cracked. Glock took care of me real good and sent me a new pistol. So far I only have a few mags through it. Its been a few years since I fired a G36 and the recoil of the G30s seemed more sharper with more muzzle flip. It could be me since I have been shooting a lot of 9mm lately or I just don't remember how the G36 recoiled. It reminds me more of the recoil of my G27.
It fits nicely in my Galco King Tuk holster I have for my G27. The capacity is what turned me off from the G36, but you can forget about getting ten rounds in the mag, at least until they are broken in. Other than the thickness of the frame, it is in between the size of a G23 and G27in regards to length and height.
I have a very limited supply of RN ball 45acp ammo, so I tried some of my 200 grain cast LSCW. It chocked on them with failure to feeds and return to battery. These were sized and loaded to run in my 1911 so I don't know if it doesn't like the SWC profile yet. The feed ramp is not like any that I have ever seen on a Glock before. If you look up my post about the cracked barrel there is a picture of what I'm talking about.

I have one that I have fired 50 jacketed swc through with no FTF. It was very accurate. I have loaded some cast lswc that I will try soon. It is very easy to carry iwb, the over all dimensions are less than a j frame.

sgtstryker; I have the G30SF and I love it. The G30S sounds
Like a great idea, slimmer yet. Personally I don't know
How much of a difference it would make for me, but
Everyone's needs and wants are different.

Yeah, I've seen the Hickok video, he did have a ftf when he swapped the slides. I shoot lswc's in my Glocks, and have found only one casting, 9mm, that they don't like, so I don't use 'em. I do like the idea of the slimmer slide, with more mag capacity. So, eventually, I'll pick one up. Thanks for all your responses. eam3, I did read your post, hope all is well now with the 30s..
