As a relatively new Glock owner, been keeping my 30SF mags loaded to break in the springs since I bought the gun a few weeks ago.....took the gun to my range today and I could not work the slide with the new loaded mags in the gun. If I removed one round from each mag the gun would function properly but with fully loaded 10 and 9 count Mags the slide wouldn't budge......gun function fine with my son's 21 Mag that has been used often...

Would appreciate any advice..........thanks

I have the 30SF, when I insert a loaded mag in on a closed slide, the slide racks a little stiffer than without a full mag, but racks fine.

If you were to youtube Hickok45, quite possibly the biggest glock fan on earth, he has many video that he mentions he leaves a glock mag one round short to assist in mag insertion, etc.

He has a nice side by side video comparing the M&P to a Glock (I believe it was a M&P compact to either the G26 or 27), he basically says he considers the M&P as having two additional round capacity (even though it's only one), because he doesn't like how tought it is to load that last round in the mag or how tight it is to insert and rack the slide.

Considering it locks the slide back upon an empty mag, you should be able to insert a fully loaded mag and release the slide without any issue.

Right..............it seems I can lock the slide back, insert a fully loaded mag and then sling shot the slide closed without a problem.....but not insert the mag first the function the slide.....very tough.

xXx, My 30sf is still tough to load fully. I use an uplula. Glock springs can be very stiff at first. I suggest loading only 7 or 8 for a couple of hundred rounds. By the way leaving it loaded doesn't do much for it. Get them out and use them. That's what works.

If you still have the issue after a bit of use you may have to look at it again.

I agree manson

Im not a glock fan at all. But i bought my wife one after she handled every type of 45 out there. She picked the 30sf. Those are strong mag springs. With 9 or 10 rounds. I couldnt fully seat the mag in battery untill a few hundred rounds went in them. They are broke in now and still very stiff

You'll find that this is fairly common with many semi auto rifles and pistols. Some of my AR's will do the same thing with some magazines and not with others. Same with my 1911's. It is generally best to load a fully loaded magazine with the slide back then close the slide or bolt. With some guns you can then drop the mag and top it off, others are best left as is. You just have to know your gun.

New 10rd Glock 30 mags are a tight fit. I put a q-clamp on mind for a week. It adds even more compression, like when inserted on a closed slide. Solved.

Pearce PG-30 grip extensions solved all my G30SF magazine issues. Those and letting the fully loaded magazines site for two weeks before going to our range
