i have a glock 23 and 27, i reload for 40sw. i am interested in moving towards shooting 9mm as well.

how well do the caliber conversion barrels work, say a lone wolf glock 19 barrel in a 23? obviously i would need a new mag, more than likely, but does the spring need to be changed? are the slides similar weight between the two firearms?

i want to add to the arsenal, but im not sure if a barrel/mag swap is sufficient. i know a few people who run a glock 26 barrel and mag in their 27 for range work,

i am mainly curious to the function, do they still run like a glock should i.e. almost perfectly reliable (assuming you don't feed it garbage, and let it stay dirty with a limp wrist)

For practice use the 9mm ammo tend to feed fine in a 40sw mag . Buy a conversion barrel from lone wolf or from one of the othrs and it should runn 99 . 9/10 of the time. Even the extractor will work .

I would never carry it with a 40 mag and 40 extractor and 9mm ammo but fine for the range.

My 40 mags run 9mm just fine for range use. No issues. Springs are the same.

DON'T run a 26 barrel in a 27 or a 19 barrel in a 23. Get a conversion barrel.

thanks for the replies. eventually i will add another handgun (glock or sig) and one day a 1911 ;)

If you reload for your 40 S&W already you can make a load feel just like you are shooting 9mm. Try 3.0g Clays, Titewad or Red Dot under a 180g bullet. If you have a chrony, shoot for about 750fps. It will feel just like a 120g 9mm bullet at 1100fps. I did this with my M&P40 going back and forth between loads and swapping out barrels/mags between 40 and 9 and the feeling is almost a perfect match between the 2.

I just got 1k xtreme 180g bullets, but the only pistol powder I have right now is autocomp, but the drought will end one day right?

I have Glock 22/23/27 and use KKM/Lone Wolf conversion barrels in all of them.

When shooting 9mm, I will use Glock 17 magazines with G22/G23 but the factory G27 magazines will reliably feed 9mm.

Glock 23 conversion barrel will work in G27, so you only need to buy one conversion barrel for G23/G27.

I have a Glock 29 that runs 10mm, .40 S&W, and .357 Sig beautifully.

In reality not much of an accomplishment since they share the same case head -- extractor/ejection relationships remain the same.

9mm in a .40S&W is tougher as there is a 1mm difference in the case head that could cause issues with engaging the extractor or the empty hitting the ejector. Both S&W and Glock appear to have dealt with it either by design or production economy of scale. The M&P came out in .40S&W first the Glock was 9mm initially.

I was using a mag from my G23 in my G19 this past Thursday, and it fed just fine. In your shoes (and for practice purposes only) I'd just pick up a conversion barrel, and try to use my G23 mags... if it doesn't work out you can always pick up some G19 mags.

Glockstore.com ....

Id suggest checking into a few Youtube.com clips of Lenny Magill, www.glockstore.com . Magill shows & explains in detail the ins & outs of Glock barrel conversions. .40S&W to 9x19mm .

His Glock business is impressive. I plan to snag a few new after market parts for my new police trade-in Glock 21 .45acp(Gen 04).
I like the safety orange Glock floor plates, the lime green Glock pistol magazine tool, the Glock armorer tool, and the enlarged/custom take down lever.
The factory Glock part is to small & tight IMO. Re-assembly is a snap but to field strip the Glock 21 takes some effort.
Berettas(M9s, 96s, PX4s) & Smith and Wesson M&Ps are sooo much easier. :D
My Glock is new too so that may change over time. I just don't want to scuff & scratch it all up trying to service it. :(

I have a Lone Wolf conversion barrel for my G22. Runs like a champ on my reloads. Last time out I was using a G17 mag in it, but I think I have used a G22 mag in the past. I will try it on Tuesday when I go to the range and let you know.

I have been keeping my eyes open on the WTS section for a Lone Wolf G23 or 19 barrel. Most of them seem to be going for close to the new price that I have seen.

I've not had issue running a 9mm EFK barrel in my G22 or G23, with nothing more than a barrel and mag change. For range work, I'd not worry about it.

I have noticed newer Glock 40S&W magazines (G22/G23) have narrower opening between the magazine lips to better feed 9mm rounds. So do try the G23 magazines and see if they feed 9mm rounds reliably.

I have two Gen3 G23s, and run a LW 9mm conversion barrel in them. They function perfectly with their 40 mags, and hold a couple extra 9mms.

My G22 mags did not work with the 9mm ammo. Feed lips were to far apart and only the rim of the case would hold in place. I couldn't get more then a couple of cartridges in the mag and they would start to pop out.

I will stick with a G17 mag.

I've got a 23C that I shoot 9mm, .357 sig and .40 s&w. For the 9mm I do use Glock 19 mags but no other changes. I have a Storm Lake 9mm conversion and a Lone Wolf .357 sig conversion. I'm pleased with the function and reliability of both.

My G27 is more reliable with a 9mm conversion barrel and 9mm mags than stock.

Do NOT buy a 9mm LCI extractor. They are practically identical. And if anything, the 9mm extractor is looser than the 40. I have an extra 9mm extractor, and I leave the stock one in the gun.

Heck, I believe it was LWD that accidentally switched the part numbers on these two parts, and hundreds of people received the wrong extractors before anyone noticed.

I haven't had any experience with the Glock 26 or 27 but I did the 40-9 conversion on a G22 with slide milled for a Trijicon RMR. At first I just used my G17 barrel and it worked very well and was very accurate. Also, it kept the point of aim/point of impact the same. Then I finally decided to get a lonewolf conversion barrel. The lonewolf barrel has changed the point of aim so I have to adjust the sight when I switch between barrels. And the lonewolf barrel has been less reliable than the G17 barrel.
