Glock Accessories

As of lately I've been checking out alot of Glock accessories. The ones that strike me as interesting are the DPM recoil reduction system, and the KKM stainless barrel with a 3 port comp. How useful would these systems be on say a G21 or G19?

I don't think the recoil on my G26 is bad at all. I'd imagine the G19 would be even better in that regard. Practice and get proficient (if you aren't already), then decide what accessories you want.

What do you want these accessories for? Carry, competition, plinking, SD/HD?

Glocks are reliable right out of the box.. For self defense, no need to change stuff on you Glock unless for sure, you know exactly what you are doing..

I have a Glock 19 with ~10,000 rounds through it so far. I just bought a Glock 26. The 26 is slightly more "snappy" than the 19, but I could shoot either pretty much all day. I have taken a couple of pistol classes. One was a 2 day class with a 2000+ round count. The other was a 3 day class with a 2500+ round count. One guy took the 2 day class with a Glock 29 (10mm)!

I have heard from a number of instructors, that the only time they ever have any trouble with Glocks in class is when someone had loaded them up with "accessories".

There is one training website that has a section on what to bring to class. One of the things listed is all of the original parts for your gun, so when all the ninja crap you have put on it breaks you can get it back to running.

Spend your money on practice and training. Forget the "accessories".

I must admit the extended slide and mag release levers I had installed really
make the pistol much more comfortable and user-friendly, and thus have made
the user much more effective in using said pistol.

The KKM barrel with the "serious" comp (3 or 4 port Match, not the hybrid) is a fun, but expensive, accessory. Yes, they really work. If your looking to have a GLOCK Racegun, it's the ticket. But Raceguns aren't practical for anything except racing.

The DPM recoil reduction system is a $60 gadget that works. It's illegal in IPDA. It softens felt recoil & speeds follow-up shots with no "down side".

How useful would these systems be on say a G21 or G19?

Are these pistols causing you recoil pain/problems now? My advice (for what it's worth) is to learn to control & shoot these pistols in Stock Configuration (maybe an extended G34 slide release). There always time to dink around with them AFTER you've practiced enough to be very, VERY good.

Thanks for the posts everyone. I'm not thinking about buying these accessories for lack of experience with the pistols. I also wouldn't be sacrificing range time for these accessories. If and when I put them on I don't ever see a G21 being my carry pistol so it would possibly be for HD and most likely just a paper shooter.

Also, the reason why I consider these accessories is for the very fact that they're so easy to take off. The barrel and compensator can be removed with a simple field strip. Same thing with the recoil reduction system, I also considered the DPM not just for recoil management but the very idea that I've heard it can reduce wear by eliminating the slide slam on return.

seriously. If you hold the thing right (training) and shoot a lot (ammo), you don't need any kind of recoil reducing device.

No offense to anyone (honestly) but I wasn't really asking if I needed the accessories I was just asking if they function correctly, and if they're worth the price if I want them. Someone has already mentioned that both the DPM system and that the KKM match compensator works, how is the accuracy of the KKM barrels?

There are only a few accessories that I really find beneficial for a Glock: New sights, 3.5# connector of your choice, holster, mag carriers and ammo. Everything else is pretty much fluff. But then again, my Glocks all have fiber optic sights, modified plungers, connectors, lightened springs, guide rods , and grip taped so take my comments with a grain of salt.

how is the accuracy of the KKM barrels?

As accurate as a Bar-Sto or Kart, which puts them in the Premium territory. But have it fitted by a PROFESSIONAL (not you or a "GLOCK Armorer") if you want any real benefit. A drop-in barrel seldom gives maximum available improvement. Serious precision shooters will tell you that they'd rather have a well-fitted stock barrel than a poorly fitted custom barrel. Yes...it's that important.

As for the DPM System saving wear onthe GLOCK frame/slide. I don't know how much ammo you run through your pistols...but I SURE haven't met many folks who wear their GLOCK out.
