I have replaced a damaged original equipment G36 barrel (3.76) length with a Wolf 4.76 ported barrel. The new barrel was drop in ready and extends about 1 inch from front of slide. I'm wondering what to expect from the new barrel concerning accuracy and energy from standard factory ammo.
Anyone have a clue?

Probably very little difference in velocity. Could be slightly higher or lower because of differences in chamber dimensions. (tighter chambers should give higher velocities) the ported barrel won't add much.

Accuracy? Unless you can shoot small (under 4" or so) groups at 25 yards, probably no change since the shooter is likely to be the limiting factor.

Point of impact might change.

An extra inch of barrel will increase velocity to some extent.
But the ports will negate the increase.

Accuracy would not be affected at all, as long as the new barrel is of at least as good quality as the original barrel.
As long as a short barrel is long enough to get the bullet spinning and stabilized, making it longer has no effect on accuracy.

It is the sight radius, or distance between the sights that would make an additional inch meaningful in more precise sight alignment.

But you didn't change the slide, so you didn't increase the sight radius.

Glock "polygonal" rifling increases velocity compared to button cut. So your longer, ported barrel might actually be slower.

An extra inch of barrel won't make any difference to accuracy, other than maybe adding a little weight to the muzzle. The lockup and sight radius aren't affected by the extra barrel length. Many people have found LW aftermarket barrels to shoot more accurately. Probably just as many find they don't shoot as well.

When you're talking button cut barrels and milled and reamed chambers, it depends on how new the cutters were and a little bit of luck as to the consistency of the bar stock. Every button cut barrel will be unique. Every chamber will be a little different.

Generally longer barrels give more velocity but some exceptions have been mentioned.

You really can't tell unless you chrono both barrels. I've seen a G26 that chronoed the same load faster than a G17.

I cannot comment on wheather you will get an increase or decrease in accuracy or velocity, but I am interested in hearing whar happened to the factory glock barrel.

Well its a bit embarrassing, I reload and in the process I must have had a brain fart and double dropped powder load. It could have been worse. Fortunately, the load was light target and result was a bulged barrel. No harm to the firearm, Had to take the Glock 36/45 to Glock authorized gunsmith to have barrel removed.
In the future I will be much more careful in reloading, perhaps play it safe with factory ammo only.

Wll they certainly would work, except I paid $115 vs $180 for what appears the same barrel. The $180 barrel appears to be longer and ported sightly different. I guess time will tell if I made the right decision. I appreciate your info, thanks.

EFK Dragons are in the same league as KKM and Storm Lake for quality and accuracy. The LWD products are hit and miss-get what you pay for in this instance.

I appreciate the reply, but as I said EFK Dragons doesn't make a G36 barrel and only test firing will determine if I made a mistake buying LW over Storm Lake.
