I have a G17 that is having some extraction problems. THe gum fires, then partially ejects the casing. Its more along the lines of pulling the casing about 1/2 way out then letting go. The slide then tries to strip off another round, which gets caught between the feed ramp and partially ejected casing.

As a side note, the standard malfunction drills do nothing for this malfunction, as the mag wont drop. I have to lock the slide back then fully eject the casing.

Anyone have any ideas?

Are you using reloads? Sounds like the loads might be too light to eject the case. If you are using factory ammo a worn extractor could be your problem.

If the loads were that light, the next round wouldn't be stripped, would it?

Sounds like the extractor is slipping off the case rim. +1 on checking the extractor. Have you ever cleaned it before? Extractors get exposed to powder residue that can clog the "tooth" or make them stick out too far.

Also, I believe that the extractor is one part which was beefed up since the early Gen 1's, though I'm not positive.

This is new WWB. I dont think its a light load issue because the gun is "trying" to strip another round. I think its either an extractor or extractor spring problem.

Anyone have a link to instructions of how to take apart for cleaning and a place to buy such parts?

Google 'glock faq', I think they have it there.

I think you're on the right track, clean the entire upper, check the extractor when you get it out for a chipped edge.

How old is the gun, and has it ever been detail stripped?

Look for gunk under the extractor. I had the same problem. Found junk blocking the claw. After cleaning it, problem was solved. Pistol was a Glock 26.

hm

well how long have you had it and how many rounds have you put through it?
mechanical things break. even if it is a glock, an ak-47, or a small airliner over the south pacific, mechanical things are gonna break sometimes.
try and get some parts replaced or take it to a gunsmith.
sorry, but i am secretly celebrating inside because i like to see glocks fail because i love steel guns like the CZ's or 1911's
just my preference.
i feel horrible now.

WWB can be crap if you get some from a bad lot. It caused the only malfunction I've ever had with a semi-auto. They are notorious for having out of spec. extractor rims and being underpowered/squibs. Ive heard of WWB jamming ALL manufacture of guns at one time or another.
