Glock Gen 4 Beavertail

Hmmm not bad at all. The rest of the polymer market will be in serious trouble if Glock suddenly decides to make improvements on their ergonomics.

Somehow I knew you would say that Reaper! ;)

If it makes the grip a bit similar to the the m&p line I'm for it. It's only an extra backstrap, so it's completely optional.

I've got a couple, but I keep switching back to Glocks for some reason. It's hard getting off the koolaid. Not sure if it's even worth it.

The koolaid is delicious, so why bother? M&P's feel a bit thicker to me, is that so or is it just my imagination? I supposed I could look it up, stop being so lazy...

This is the end of Glock. Beavertails will be the first step. Then multiple external safeties. Then thumb print scanners and gps trackers that contact big brother.

What a travesty.

You can already get a very high grip on a glock, the added plastic will not get you higher, but lower it. Cant imagine getting slide bite by my Glocks.

They are, 1.18" versus 1.2" Although, I can't feel the difference when carrying IW.

Settles down Alex, I don't think a beaver tail and removable back straps mean they want to slap a safety on it. They preach that their product is so much more intuitive to use compared to those with manual safeties, it's part of their selling point.

This is a great leap forward. No more hammer bite! I hope they make it stock, along with the extended mag release and slide levers, which add the much needed ability to autoeject a mag and accidentally lock the slide.

I can only hope and dream for an upgraded version with a bi-tone slide, enlarged and extended magwell, external compensator, and a tactical name - like Glock SWAT Elite. I also look forward to the GSEm version, where you get a small briefcase, disposable holster, and a tactical keychain for only $100 more.

:banghead:

What do you think?

I think it looks like something outlandishly ugly and awkward. It doesn't look comfortable at all.

I like the extended beaver tail on my 1911. It prevents the slide or hammer from biting me. My glock has no hammer and doesn't ever bite me. It already facilitates a high grip. My thumbs ride just below the slide, it isn't getting down any lower in my hand. I see no need for it, but it's a free country.

After living with a gen 4 for several hundred rounds, the back-straps just feel like ultra-cheesy, tacked-on, aftermarket gimmicks. Luckily, I like it with no back-straps installed. I do love the frame texture and mag release.

+1

Kind of reminds me of the FLGR's for 1911's...a great solution to a non-existent problem.

Okay, ducking for cover now :)

They do strike me as more of fragile decoration on something that is supposed to be spartan and hardy.

Although that picture of the Glock trigger lock is disturbing I would be baffled if Glock ever decided to put a safety on all their guns.

I like it as-is...but if they were absolutely forced to put a manual safety on there because of some future requirement down the road, I would hope for a standard thumb safety and not that monstrosity. Left handed manipulation would be impossible. Even if it were reversible, one still needs to be able to operate it weak hand only.

Beavertail on anything but a 1911 should be outlawed.

I get your jibe but I really do think a BHP could use a little extension in that area.

The Glock does not need anything like that. I dont know of anyone that gets bit by the slide on a Glock. It is an accessory so their is probably a market but I wont get it.

The lonewolf frame looks way better to me. I am getting one for my glock 22 so I can use my current frame with my advantage arms 22 coversion kit as a dedicated practice platform.

I use the Timberwolf frame with my Advantage Arms G17/22 kit as a dedicated .22lr...
