:what:

Well I've finally stepped over to the darkside! I've never really liked Glocks not that they are bad guns I'm just a 1911 guy. I was looking for another .45 to shoot IDPA matches with and a G21 followed me home. I found a nice used, but not abused 21 with 3 dot night sights,3 mags, one 13rd + 2 13rd'ers with Arrendondo floor plates extending them to 17rds + box all for $499.00 I've never been able to shoot well with the standard Glock sights and I was planning on switching the sights out anyway, but this one is all setup. My real problem now is my shooting buddies will never let me live it down. I've poo-poo'ed the Glock for years, now I own one! :what: I'm going to need a support group...

The G21 does feel real nice in my hand and fits into my M&P40 leather holster no problem. I'll find out next week how it shoots.

Congratulations. I too am a 1911 guy, but I learned to love the Glocks. My 21SF has excellent accuracy. Best of all, I feel no guilt leaving it in the truck vault while I am on campus. If it gets a scratch, so what?! :D Keep us posted as to how well you still like it after a few months.

It's ok. We get converts like you everyday. Lots of Sig guys have even converted over. You were man enough to put your ego aside and give Glock a try. Now you will understand why many of us Glock lovers are sick individuals, and need help to find a cure. The thing is, there is no cure. Your addiction will only get worse. Be prepared. You may even have to hide a few dollars from your wife so you can get your next Glock. I'm on 3 Glocks and counting. It's good to have you as a family member.

I love you man!

I've got fairly big hands, but I always thought that the Glock 21 was pushing the limit a bit too far for my tastes.

Haven't yet handled a 21SF, but I really, really want to.

I hated the entire CONCEPT of Glock pistols when they first came out, and continued right up until about 8 years ago, when my agency issued me a Glock 22. It's totally reliable, and plenty accurate.

But not at all elegant.

I still don't LIKE them.....but I TRUST them.

The Kool-Aid tasted good! :D Except it was Dillon Blue with a hint of polymer black ;) I know these things multiply and a 9mm might be due in a few months. :D

You found a new tool that fits your hand, and fits your holster.

And what's more, you've put a little hate behind you.

PhillyGlocker - it's not a full conversion. Indeed, it should never be. Is place for Glock and 1911 and SIG and Beretta in big wide wunnerful world.

I fired my first "modern age handgun" this month.. the owner of a local gun store was nice enough to let me shoot a Glock 22, i put about 30 rounds down range.. i dont have a problem with the sights, i shot some pretty "Fair" groups.. i dont have a problem with the grip size, fits me fine, the grip angle seems fine to me aswell.. the only thing i dont like is the slide release its really difficult for me to use.. is it just me??..the .40 cal recoil i fond was somwhat sharp too.. but all in all i like the glock and i will some day hope to add it to my collection.

You know, as much as I respect Col. Jeff Cooper and love to read his words I like my Glocks. I really like my new green model 17 but I do miss the trigger and extended slide release from my 34 I sold when I needed money. I think that'll be one of the first things I do this summer when I go down to the world again, get that work done on it. That extended slide release makes a HUGE difference.

distra, save your ego for other things. Your appreciation for Glocks doesn't have to diminish your love of 1911s.

Welcome to The Dark Side. We have cookies and milk (not Kool-Aid.)

1911 kind of guy here, but I do love my Glock 17. Both are great guns. I like my G17 since 9mm FMJ is a lot cheaper than the .45. I like my Colt because its got those classic lines and you just can't beat a .45.

Our Glock armorer tells me that it's NOT a "slide RELEASE", it's a "slide STOP", and you should RELEASE the slide by pulling it back with the non-firing hand.

P.S. no matter how much TRUST I have in the Glocks, my 1911 will always be my fav.

That is correct. The lever is not a slide release but a slide stop. It is possible to use it as a slide release, but the proper method for a Glock is the overhand or slingshot method. If you absolutely need a slide release lever, they make extended ones that can act as such.

Oh, and enjoy your new GLOCK. You'll probably end up with more eventually.

I too used to hate Glocks, and I owned a couple Springfield XDs. I then started thinking about replacing parts, and having to send my XDs to Springfield Armory. Thats when I decided to give Glock a try. I went out and bought a G19, and it turns out I shoot it better than the XD9. I haven't looked back since.

Yes it's a slide stop or lock. I usually release the slide with my non-firing hand no matter what semi-auto I'm shooting. That's what I was trained to do.

I may well end up making one of these posts some day soon. If I can't find a 10MM S&W Semi Auto, my only other option here is a Glock.

I'll try to take comfort in the fact that there are others out there... :D

One question while I've got the Glock enthusiast's attention, do you/have you changed out the polymer guide rod? It seems a bit flexy, but hows the longevity?
