Anyone done any hunt with their Glock? I've seen a few YouTube movies of guys bagging large whitetails and hogs with their 10's, 45's and 40's.
I see Double Tap offers heavy cast cores that would probably work, however don't you need an aftermarket barrel to shoot lead through a Glock? I understand you'd have to do your part like with any hunting, but it would be cool!
Just watched one of a guy bagging a nice whitetail buck with his 23! And I happen to have a 23C...

Not necessarily. There are lots of folks who shoot lead through their Glock barrels. You need to keep it clean and watch for any lead build up, but it can be done.

I have taken a few pigs with my Glock 20 and Glock 31. I used Double Tap 200 Grain HP's in 20 and Winchester Ranger Talon in the 31. Both worked great. We were shooting hogs at very close range, less than 15 yards.

Shooting hundreds of rounds of soft lead bullets through a Glock barrel will cause lead to build up in the barrel and it will develop dangerous pressures eventually. Lots of guys use lead, they just clean often and well.

For a handful of rounds of hardcast lead bullets used for hunting you won't have any trouble with a Glock.

I've got several that I could hunt with (23, 21, 20), but I haven't taken anything with them...yet. I got .45 Super for the 21, or might try the 23 or 20. I have shot lead through a Glock barrel and it just depends really. For example my 20 will shoot a 200gr WFGNC very well for the first 3-5 shots but leading then starts to degrade accuracy. On the other hand, I've shot lead from the 21 and 30 and not even see any leading at all.

It's a little easier to clean lead out of a traditionally rifled barrel than it is a polygonal rifled barrel like Glock uses. If you do shoot lead, check every few rounds for lead buildup in the barrel and make sure to clean it out good afterwards.

I see that Double Tap actually offers jacketed hollows in 200 gr for 40 call.
If it wasn't for the EHD wiping out my whitetails, I'd try it this fall!

I carry a G20 for SD/backup on trail that should be adequate for most medium-sized game harvesting. Of course getting close enough to game for pistol-hunting is not a skill I currently possess, but I figure if I ever get good enough for bow-hunting etc, the 10mm might be another option to consider at that time.

I plan on owning a G20 SD some day. How about the 10th with cast cores vs lower 48 grizzlies?

I don't think he'd have any "gilding" metal build up, even with soft lead.

Yes, yes. lol. Certain parts of the brain start shutting down at 1, 2 am, including those that that tell us we should phrase something like that a little differently.

Should have stated it as I don't think he'll see any more build-up with true hard cast lead than he'd see gilding metal fouling with jacketed bullets.
