When installing the +2 base plate on a glock magazine does i require a longer spring. It seems that increasing the length of the magazine by %10 without a different spring would cause problems. Has anyone experienced malfunctions caused by these extensions.

You would need to replace the magazine spring only if it is worn (last round or two won't feed properly or loose).

I usually replace them with Wolff extra power springs (19+ lbs compared to factory 16/17/19 lbs) and they work well with +1/+2 mag bases - http://www.gunsprings.com/index.cfm?page=items&cID=1&mID=5#109

If the springs are worn, I also check the condition of the followers and replace as necessary.

I installed my Pearce +2 plates on new mags & they have worked perfectly for several years now. I worried about the springs being too short when I installed them, since the Pearce plates do add to the height of the mags, but it hasn't been a problem so far.

The standard weight mag springs will work (for a while anyway), but for some piece of mind, I'd just go ahead and invest in some Wolff Extra Power springs. I look at it as cheap insurance.

You only need to go with longer springs if you want it to pop off with greater velocity. (I hate the +2 basepads from GLOCK, Pierce, and Schrer). Go Dawson or Arredondo--no "speed unloads"

no need for a longer spring. i have a +2 on my g19 and g26 mags, stock springs and no probs with weak ammo or +p+ :)

the single stack g36 is the only that needs a wolff +10% spring for reliability with the +1 floorplate.
