I have heard that you can convert a Glock 23 to 9mm by changing the barrel, extractor, ejector, and of course mag. I have a 23 I'd like to do this to since I'm consolidating to 9mm, and due to a strange trade I have 3 Glock 19 barrels. Has anyone done this? How hard is it?

Thanks
Dan

Im not 100% but pretty sure you have to get a conversion barrel. The 19 barrel will fit but have a tiny bit of slop at the end of the slide where the barrel pokes thru. Might wanna look at lonewolf

just order the parts. it's that easy.

but remember, no matter what you change, the breechface is still machined for the .40 cal round, so i would use it just for the range and not defense. :)

you do indeed need a "conversion" barrel from an aftermarket source. there will be too much play if you just put in a 9mm glock oem barrel.

Since you've already got three OEM 19 barrels, I'd say a 19 slide to go with them wouldn't be a bad investment. Then just get some mags and an ejector, and honestly I'd see if I even needed to change ejectors, play around and see which one was more reliable (.40/9 or 9/.40) with the other caliber and leave that one in. Unless it'll be a full time conversion with only the spare parts to swap back if you decide to later.

Alternatively, you could get a 19 slide.

you still have to order the barrel anyway. at the cost of that, might as well buy another glock.

only place i know that sells glock oem slides is glockmeister, and their prices are a rip.

Lone Wolf sells G19 slide for $175. Unless you want to use the G23 slide parts, they also sell internal slide parts.

If you want to go with 40-9 conversion barrel route, they are around $100.

I use Lone Wolf conversion barrels for my G22/G27 and while G22 requires 9mm G17 magazines to feed properly, G27 magazines feed 9mm rounds just fine (of course, G17 mags work fine in G27). So, try your G23 mag for 9mm and get G19/G17 mags only if you have feeding issues. If your mag followers are worn, they won't feed 9mm (New mag followers will fix that problem). BTW, G23 barrel works in G27, so if you get a G27, you can use the G23 conversion barrel to shoot 9mm in G27. ;)

There is enough grip on the 9mm case rim with G22/G23/G27 extractor that replacement is not necessary (BTW, ejector is on the frame and don't need to be changed). I have shot tens of thousands of 9mm rounds through G22/G27 and have not experienced any extraction/ejection problems.

So, to shoot 9mm out of G23, you only need a conversion barrel and G19/G17 magazines.

You don't have to change the extractor and ejector, you can if you want but it's not necessary.

All you need is an aftermarket .40-9mm conversion barrel for the Glock 23 and Glock 9mm magazines. You should not use a 9mm barrel made by Glock because its outer dimensions are slightly smaller than .40 barrels.

Be very careful if you use both barrels during the same range trip, many people have accidentally put their 9mm magazine in the gun with the .40 barrel installed.

The barrels I have are standard rifling, and the rifling is standard it is NOT the polyaganol that is standard on Glocks. So I'm not sure who made them or why, however, they are slightly smaller in diameter than the 23 barrel so it looks like I'll either have to have a slide or different barrels.

A brand new 19 is about $500. Just saying.

Yeah, but what fun is that? Don't get me wrong I'm not against new guns, but part of this was doing the project etc.
