Is there any useful difference between the standard Glock rail and the new ones with the picatinny rail?

Do you guys think it'd be worth the upgrade to get the picatinny rail?

Thanks!

No. I don't like the rails regardless of the Glock or the Picatinny rail. In fact I have been searching for and buying second Gen Glocks that don't have the finger grooves, or the rails.

If all you want to put on your Glock is a light, it won't matter.

I have seen a G21 with a Picatinny mount on it at the Gun Show. They look huge. I like the regular rail that comes on Glocks better. It is sleeker and I have never had it snag on my holster when I use it for CCW. The Picatinny rail looks like it would snag on things if a light were not on it. It my not be fun when drawing from a holster either.

I'll admit my Glock ignorance, but isn't the G21SF with Pacatinny rail the one with the ambi magazine release that a couple of THR members have reported problems with the right side release sticking?

Glock only has one model of pistol that has the picatinny rail.

The Glock 21SF with picatinny rail & ambi-magazine release was developed so that it could be submitted for the now canceled Joint Combat Pistol program (US Military .45ACP pistol trials to replace the 9x19mm Beretta M9). The use of the picatinny rail was a requirement for the trials.

Glock has no plans on adding the picatinny rail to any other model.
