glock slide stuck

i broke down my glock 21 completely a few weeks ago to clean and took it out shooting today for the first time since i was cleaned. after i got it back home and went to clean it, when i tried to remove the slide, it went forward about a quarter inch and stopped. i have to pull the trigger at that point to remove it. it has never done that before. is there something perhaps that was reinstalled improperly that will cause this?

Pulling the trigger after pulling down the takedown bars is part of the protocol. Same on XDs but not XDMs.
