I've heard a lot of people talk about how they would a slim frame 9mm or 40s&w. I was thinking the reason we haven't seen one is because glocks own 45gap wouldn't fit in such a frame. Is this a likely reason?

I thought I read that >

No reason that they couldn't simply work within the limitations of the task at hand. If .45 GAP won't fit then just don't offer it in this form factor. I'd wager than MOST sales are in 9mm or .40S&W anyways.

Just personally, I think that an ultra-slim single-stack 9mm in the Glock 19 profile would be very popular in the CCW market. The only people I see really catering to that is Kahr. Ruger and Kel-tec both have single stack 9mm's but they're approaching a sub-compact size rather than just regular compact. I want a bigger gun to hold on to but the thinner the better :).

If I am correct, the Glock 36 is .07" thinner than the original 1911 grip (circumference below the trigger guard). Any new single stack Glock would probably less girth in the grip than a 1911, but not much.
