Glock unintended discharges

glock misfire

I have not trusted Glocks since the day they came on the market and were hitting up law enforcement agencies as their duty weapon. I just like to have a safety. The 1911 is what I carry and the XD I like because of the grip safety also. For whatever reason it fired at a bad time, whether it is the holsters fault, the owner or the holster it doesn't matter when some one is dead, the result is the same. Luckily death was not a result. Glock should really put a safety on their guns ( a real safety ). I believe I saw that they do make some with a regular safety for purchase now but, I still would prefer the XD over the Glock if I could not have my 1911.

Everybody has to find what they are comfortable with...and then train with it.....as much as possible. Some people dislike manual safeties in times of stess. One more motor skill movement to go south. I prefer to only have to think about the sight and pulling the trigger if/when I need the gun in an emergency situation. This incident occurred during the reholstering process....no reason to screw up at that point.

And 1911 owners under stress could touch off a round with a single action short stroke trigger by accident. Or pushing the pistol back into the holster with hand on back strap saftey into a warn out holster with the saftey off could also do the same thing. It ain'y about the gun. It's all go back to proper firearm control and procedures. Never mind the fact this guy was reholstering in his seat too..

Booger hook off the trigger = no NEGLIGENT discharges

Having a glock would teach alot of people this cardinal rule(hopefully not the hard way).

Also many guns have similar triggers as the glock so this applies to alot of guns.

The result would be the same in this situation even with a XD. If you are reholstering the weapon the grip safety will be depressed and the trigger will be pulled and the gun will still fire. It is an extra added safety yes but in a situation like this it comes down to being a responsible handgun owner and keeping your equipment (holster in this case) in proper condition.

Nope. When they came out they went to the Austrian Army.
