Also, the 1911 feels like a brick in my hands. It's not a comfortable platform and I don't care for them :neener:

I voted Glock because of the wording of the choice. The choice as I read it was:

Glock

ANYTHING else (caps added on purpose)

There are plenty of guns out there I wouldn't choose over a Glock. A Beretta 92, any of the Ruger autos, most of the S&W autos, among others. I currently own a Glock 17 and plan to get at least 2 more: a 34 and a 20. I'm comfortable trusting my life to one.

That said, it wouldn't be my first choice either. If I can only choose one I'm taking my USP .45. That's the gun I feel most comfortable with right now. I can't say that won't change but I really like all of its features and it sits well in my hand.

I own 6. However, I really just did that so that it would be easier to keep track of a single platform, rather than learn how to take apart (entirely) and put back together multiple platforms.

Glocks are great. Other guns are great too though.

Glock's reputation impresses me inspite of the fact that the first semi-auto I shot was a Glock 17 that jammed a number of times. But what doesn't impress me is the way they feel when I pick them up. I hate those finger grooves. I'm 5'9'' with hands larger than normal, but huge by no means (I can barely palm a basketball when my hand isn't too sweaty). Those finger grooves feel like they were made for a woman's hands. I hate them. As far as guns with similar performance and style, when I pick up a Springfield XD, it feels like somebody slapped a hogue grip on it. It is one with my hand. All of that said. I went with the Stoeger Cougar because I like the feel of all Berettas and the price is insane.

Glocks are excellent pistols for the price. They work out of the box and magazines are inexpensive. Operation and maintenance are simple.

However, I too am a die hard HK junkie.

You get what you pay for.

On a budget, Glock without hesitation.

Got the money, HK's till you can't get 'em anymore.

Whatever floats your boat.
GLOCK's, in my opinion, are butt ugly and the grip is neutral to me but the reliability is what drew me to them.
GLOCK 23 & 27

Glock... I trust one on duty and off duty. There is a G27 on my hip in a Milt Sparks VM2 as I am typing this response.

I prefer SIG. Glock is an excellent pistol, but I just can't like its gritty trigger. I get my sight picture, posture, etc. right then this trigger waits to throw my aim off at the vary last moment. I can shoot groups as well as I can do with a SIG, but I get more flyers.

Glock's grip angle is workable, but it's not my preference either.

Glocks rocks! G20 10mm with DoubleTap ammo is EVIL,WICKED, MEAN AND NASTY!

and for real fun drop in a Lone Wolf 6" 9x25 barrel, with DoubleTap 90 grn jhp = 2100fps from an auto loader....can't do that with a sig

why glocks

i have two 9mm and two .40 compact and sub compact they work fine and since i ride a motorcycle i don't worry about getting wet or too dirty :neener:

Although Glock is behind, but still its a good showing when its pitched against rest of the world pistols!

XD for me!:neener: Feels much, much better in my hand, points very naturally, has desirable safety features in my opinion, 100% reliable.

I do not own Glocks, I own "other". I have shot multiple Glocks and I did not feel like I cheated or that I was dirty. :neener: After a few warm up rounds (the warm up was for me) they knocked holes in the target like my "others" do.

The best handgun in the world is a pos if you can't hit with it.

OK, I have to ask this and I'd like a serious answer. Most of the "best" polls I see have something to do with Glock vs others.

My question is why are the Glockers, especially the juvenile Glockers (not my phrase, I borrowed it), so adamant about justifying their purchase and trying to convince everyone that their pistol of choice is the ONLY one?

I own over a dozen handguns, no Glocks, and I never feel the need to convince anyone I made the best choice, or even a good choice, or that my guns are superior to all others.

I try to share information that's relevant to a thread and stay on topic. If someone asks about a Dan Wesson I'll respond as I have 3, ditto for Kahrs as I have 3 of them as well. Not long ago there was a thread about best all steel pistol and at least a half-dozen folks chimed in with Glock - why?
