Everyone keeps saying the same thing, but it's good advice. Get a Lee Universal Decapper. If you feel too much pressure on the down stroke, stop. -You've already learned this!

I've used both an RCBS and a Lee. I put the RCBS back into the cabinet even though I had purchased extra decapping pins. They kept breaking, and it wasn't on Berdan primers .

With the Lee, the only one that I ever broke was one that I forced down on a Berdan primed case on purpose. I knew that it was a Berdan case, but I wanted to see what would happen. If I hadn't torqued down on the locknut on the top of the die with two large wrenches, it may have backed out when it bottomed out and wouldn't have broken. I pulled hard on the down stroke to see what would happen. I learned.

Anyway, the Lee is my choice. I could have put the RCBS back in and used it since I purchased extra RCBS pins, but I've since found the Lee. The Lee works on military crimped brass, and I've used it on many thousands of rounds without fail.
