I like the .338 Lapua but absolutely will NOT pay the price for brass and the gun. If i had the money i would for sure buy a Lapua gun but the .338 RUM and doing some upgrands and reloading will get me the same. I would argue the topic but thats not what im trying to do. I really like the military Lapua aspect and fun factor of saying,"i own a bad a$$ long range military style rifle"....

But for the price im gonna ditch my .375RUM rem 700 XCR in favor of the poor mans Lapua. I'd like to punch holes at 1000yrds but the .375 doesn't have any selection of long range projectiles. Unless you go .375 chey-tac.

If anyone can convince me the .375 RUM can handle and shoot 1000yrd shots acurately and still retain energy,im listening.

65ft/lbs of recoil is over kill for a 7-8pd gun especially off a bench or on the ground in prone position.

Thanks for reading my thoughts:D

i do not believe a 375 rum is an ideal long range chambering... it should, however, have no problems reaching 1000 yards w/ a 300 grain hornady.

375 chey-tac would shoot the same exact bullet as a 375 rum, or h&h, or ruger.

if you do want to shoot 1000 yards and beyond i would suggest you start w/ a very mild chambering so that you can get the requisite practice time in and only burn thru one barrel to get proficient enough to warrant something else. look to 308 win, 260 win, 6.5 creedmore, and chamberings of that ilk.
