If you have no self defense guns, I'd start with the Ruger SP101 or the Kimber 45. The 45 will do self defense (in house or carry) quite well AND is a FUN GUN too! Good luck with the LIST!

Sorry should have posted i guess this is impulse buy i have 3 45's 2 44's and need something new to add to collection

Im leaning towards buying both the 22/45 cheep to shoot and sp101 for ccw come summer or carrying it at work since im in repair it would hide out lot easyer than my fullsize 45's

But everyones opinions are welcome or change my mind for me :)

Wish i had the buy them all option but didnt win the 100 million lottery yet

Assuming I was starting over completely, I'd say:

#1 priority is a carry/home defense gun that is comfortable to carry and anyone permitted can easily use at home - for me, that's like a Kahr P9

#2 a 22 pistol or revolver for uber cheap shooting - for me, a Dan Wesson 6" revolver

#3 is a 357, or 45 as 'something else fun' and a range gun - for me, that would be a 1911, a CZ or a 686.

#4 would be a KelTec P3AT or P32 for an always ALWAYS gun.

I suggest something different from what you have currently. If you have a good 1911, get something else - maybe one of the wheelguns, or the XD9. Consider a pocket revolver, or maybe a BHP for a change of pace.

Variety is the spice of life, after all.

Do you already have a .22 pistol? If not, I'd definitely take a hard look at the Ruger 22/45. Try and grope one side-by-side with a Ruger MkII. Basically same firearm with different gripframes.

I bought a 22/45, love the little thing. Extremely accurate, handles great, etc. The stainless steel/ adjustable sights version is definitely worth getting. I now wish I'd got the MkII grip (slimmer, all steel, cooler looking), but that's just minor pickiness.

Also really easy and relatively inexpensive to mount red-dot sights and other optics on the 22/45 or MkII series. Congrats on your economic upturn.

Sorry to Hear that Mike i was sure that i was done for too but with nothing hireing around here i was stuck then out of blue there were some major changes and bam back to work

There lot of no jobs going around

If it were me, I'd buy something like this........

GunNut i like but think the 22/45 feels better to me but that is combo im looking at also thinking the hammerless version got few weeks b4 i buy though

CZ-100 has the right idea. I'd not spend more than $250, if I couldn't help myself.

CZ-100 says: <I personally would not but anything, I would wait a few months.>

While this isn't much fun, its the right answer. Maybe save up a 3 - 6 month emergency fund, then pay off the credit card balance, and then reward yourself with a new toy. JMO.

cheers

Well the beautyful thing is ever thing is paid off but the house so im not hurting for money Ive been doing the side jobs extra to make sure everything was paid up plus it helps when the mrs makes what i do so if this happens one of us can pay everything if need be so money isnt a problem. Since i dont use credit card that aint a problem either i pay cash for everything.
