Going price on recent made Colt 1860?

Found a guy selling a Colt standard 1860 w/ black box and papers.
Unfired but definitely turned. Obvious turn line on cylinder.
He claims mint condition. I say B.S.
Wants $800. Again I say B.S.
Offered $550 and was turned down.
The on-line sites seem to be mostly less than $800 for a NIB of this model.
What is the groups opinion of a realistic price on this?

Black box = 3rd Generation? Do you have a serial number? Is the backstrap blued or silvered?

First of all, it's NOT MINT if it has a turn line. Mint means exactly that: mint new, no blemishes or marks of any kind, anywhere.

Assuming 3rd Generation, 98% condition for the turn line, the Fifth Edition (2007) of The Blue Book of Modern Black Powder Arms has a value of $450. If one assumes 100%, which I don't with the turn line, it's still only $600.

I wouldn't pay a penny over $600, but that's me. If your'e buying it as an investment you won't get your money out of it at anything above $500, but if you're buying it to use, then $550, but in no case more than $600.

If it's a 2nd Generation the Blue Book says $725 for 100%, $525 for 98%. In that case top price for a investment would be $600, with $700 as the not to exceed under any circumstances for a shooter.

Ya know I didn't even get to see the backstrap as it was snugged down in the black foam box liner.
Once he started with the $800 business I didn't want to touch it.
I'd guess it was a 3rd gen.

Black box w/gold label, foam rubber insert = 2nd Gen.
Gray box, gray flocked plastic liner = Signature series.

This one is definitely a 2nd Gen. Sixth edition Blue BooK (2009) lists NIB (100%) at $775. 98% at $550. 90% at $325. Turn line would garner a rating of at the most 98%. $550 sounds like a fair price to me.

600 sounds rite

Saw one in a gun shop colt box an all 600.00 ,rather have another r o a ,so i passed it up,maybe i shoulda offered 550.00 THE MAN SAID IT WAS UNFIRED.

If it's a 3rd gen I would offer $450, 2nd gen $550 max. Anything less than 100% is not collector grade and just does not have the resale value. As our economy continues to decline these are showing up for sale on Gunbroker and other sites by the basket full.

I bought two 1860 3rd gens just a year ago, fluted model for $380 and a nickle plated model for $380, both 99%+ with B&P. Be patient, there are good deals to be had.

He'll probably get his price, sooner or later. They're not making them any more so the price will go up and up. It depends on how bad you or someone else wants it.
