Our pastors son want me to show him the ropes. He has some equipment. Dies, lee trimmer, micrometer and a Lee hand held press. One round he wants to load is 270. Will the little press do those? He's going to need a powder scale and throw and a trickler. Im going to recommend he gets the Lyman brass smith throw. And the Hornady scale i just got. He said he has some manuals too. But don't know where he put them. So im going to explain organization is important too.

Be careful with the Hornady scale it's easy to bump the 5 gr slide.
I would suggest the RCBS partner press if he's on a budget. I've reloaded 38spl to 300 WM on one.
I'm curious how well the Lyman measure works. I have a Lee and a Hornady.

Enjoy it!!!

I’ve found organizing comes with space. The more space I have, the better stuff is organized. And the older I get, the more important organization is. I don’t remember where I put stuff, unless I put it back where it goes.

Download the last version of the western powders manual. It's free and current. Their powder is cheaper than most so it will have loads that are good. If the brass he has is new or fired in his gun sizing should not be to dramatic.

He's a Marine. He has a good build. He kept in shape after he came home from Afghanistan. He can be hard headed too lol. Like his father is.
When kids are taught to drive they are played red asphalt in driving class so they can see the results of bad decisions in driving. There is material likened to that video for reloading that shows what inattention to detail looks like. Might be a good way to start by covering risks. At least that's how he's been trained previously
