Golden Tiger 7.62 ?

It's made in a former Soviet ammo factory (Vympel to be specific).

Soviet ammo is soviet ammo. Buy whatever's cheapest.
 
It's pretty good. I've had no problems with it feeding or firing and groups size was good (for a SKS and AK). BSW
 
Irecently shot about 60 rounds of the Golden Tiger. It's accuracy is roughly comparable to Brown Bear.
 
I am fond of GT- I used it in the past in several AK type rifles (both chrome-lined and non-chrome lined) and Chinese SKS rifles. It always fed, fired and ejected without problem.
 
Another thumbs up here. I find it a bit better than Wolf. It's good to see the prices coming back down. I'm probably not the only one that didn't (have to) buy it for two years.
 
Yep - good stuff.... No worries. When it's on sale I buy it, never any problems out of my SAIGA, Norinco NHM91 or SKS'.

Arghhh! 7.62 is what you use to refer to 7.62X51 (308). 7.62x39 Russian is commonly known as 7.62x39. I was looking all over Aim Surplus' web site for Golden tiger 7.62/308.
 
Golden Tiger is great ammo! Always thought a little better than some other Russian brands....
 
The best accurate 7.62 i ve tried is the Yugo surplus FMJ corrosive ammo. Brasscased and shots really good in my Yugo M59 66 giving a 2 inch grp at 100 yds.
Then theres the Ulyanovsk HP with my Polytech 56, 1.5 inch grp at 100 yds.

As to Golden TIger, i have no doubt they shoot well. Good thing is they are back in stock and non corrosive.
 
I used Golden Tiger a few weeks ago for the first time. Before that it was Wolf and Herters. The Golden Tiger seemed a little more accurate, and I had no failures, but then I never have with the others either. But I had three empties from my last range outing, one each of the aforementioned brands. I noticed the next day, that the Golden Tiger had rust inside the case neck and down around the primer holes, but the Wolf and Herters were clean with no rust. This would lead me to believe that the Golden Tiger may in fact be mildly corrosive.

Was your gun rusted?


I've had Wolf and [any]Bear fired cases show rust overnight. It doesn't mean anything except that it's humid enough to rust (when the round is fired, any protective coating inside the case is burned away).
