I saw some 'Golden Tiger' on a few web sites for real cheap, maybe too cheap. Is this stuff any good? It sounds like a wolf knock-off which can never be a good thing.... but maybe worth a try.

thanks,

It's decent stuff...built by Vympel IIRC. They recently lost their contract with the Russian Army, not sure why.

My SKS ate it up with no issues, but I only shot about 60 rounds. Buy it if it is really cheap, but in the future stick with Brown/Silver/Golden Bear for all your cheap ammo needs, that stuff is high quality and low price.

The AK folks love it, but I had several problems with pierced primers using it in an SKS. The primer debris damaged a bolt enough to require replacement.

It's good ammo. It has lacquered cases which are better than Wolf's polymer coated cases, IMO. Wolf cases rust too easily. Over on Arfcom a member sectioned a GT bullet and there's an air pocket under the tip. That should enhance tumbling and fragmentation after it impacts.

I have shot both wolf and golden tiger and both seem about the same. I have heard the golden tiger is cleaner than wolf but in my AK who cares how clean it is. I have not had problems with anything I feed my AK.

My Saiga delivers MUCH better accuracy with Golden Tiger than with Wolf. Wolf gives me 4.5" groups at 100, while Golden Tiger does 2".
