I know its hit or miss on 3" 1911s, but after returning a destroyed, 3mo old Para LDA Carry, I'm gonna try me a Kimber Ultra. Who knows, I may even get to shoot this one:D Hows everyone like their Kimber ultras? This will be the plain jane model, but I assume they all shoot the same.

I have a Kimber Ultra Eclipse, and I love that little gun. She is 100% reliable.:D Very accurate too!

I'm looking at them too. I am more accurate with a 1911 than anything else, and I would like something in a reasonable size to carry. I looking forward to the responses.

I've got an Ultra Carry II with tritium sights (although I presume you're getting yours from AimSurplus, right?). Using WWB I've had a couple FTFs in the first 100 rounds, both in the stock 7-rd Kimber mag and in a full-sized 8-rd Chip McCormick Shooting Star mag. I haven't had any problems with the handful of Golden Saber and Gold Dot rounds I've put through mine. It seems to shoot pretty accurately for its size, though.

I'm thinking that if I may look for some thinner grips, as the included ones are a little bulky for my taste. I tried Crimson Trace grips and found that I kept obscuring the laser. I'd also pay a premium for a non-checkered arched mainspring housing, but that seems to be dreaming the impossible dream.

Never heard of AimSurplus, hope there not cheaper than $687 shipped, cause I ordered mine through BudsGuns:scrutiny:

I put some thin Alumagrips on my S&W commander, and boy are they nice. Makes your 1911 feel like a Kel-Tec P32:D

I know you are asking about the Ultra; however, the smallest Kimber I had was a Compact (4 inch). It was nice and basically problem-free.

I currently own a Colt New Agent and really like it. It has given me no problems and shoots very good. It is my only Colt and I am impressed.

My Ultra Carry II was 100% out of the box for the first two hundred rounds. The overall size is more comfortable for CC than my Glocks.

My Ultra is the oldest Kimber that I own. I bought it in the mid 90s. Its always been 100% reliable for me.

Have an Ultra Carry 2 and it has been just fine. I had two failures of the last round to go into battery in the first 100 rounds or so. Has been 100% since, with several thousand rounds put through her.

Ultra CDP II here - mim safety shattered while shooting. Type II plunger had what looked like a casting flaw that would hang it up sufficient for FTRTBs on a regular basis.

Trouble free after the type II parts were removed and safety replaced with a Wilson part.

It's gone now and I don't miss it.
