I have a friend who was in a CHL scrape and was arrested. We believe that he was in the right, but the lawyer he originally retained doesn't seem to care about his rights, only postponing things until the DA gives him a lighter (deferred) sentence (no jail time - it was not a felony).

I have told him to get rid of the jackass he has, and get someone else, but we are trying to find someone good he can consult with in Austin.

I told him I would post as someone here would know someone, or some organization.

Thanks fellas, we are in your debt!

Contact the local PD and see if they have a Union or some sort of association of police. Ask that organization who they recommend for officers who get charged.

Asking the police for a lawyer to defend you agaisnt the police claims doesnt seem like the greatest idea.

Try contacting the NRA maybe?

I know he won't want to contact his local police, they are.....jerks to say it nicely.

"Texas Law Shield" markets a "pre-paid" plan for CHL holders at most larger gun shows. Might be worth giving them a call. But, I've no experience with them.

Talk to local businesses that may have had to use such lawyers? Gun shops? Ask at McBrides? I wouldn't get into the details...at all. Just 'looking for a good CHL lawyer' and leave it at that.

Thank you gentleman, I will let him know your suggestions. New appreciate it.
