I'm looking for a good book or two with information on the various types of guns used by Americans and others during the major wars throughout history. I would prefer on with pictures or sketches of the guns. I'm just really curious and would like to learn more. Any suggestions?

These two will cover American weapons of the 20th century up through Korea, available on Amazon:

    U. S. Infantry Weapons of the First World War, by Bruce N. Canfield

U.S. Infantry Weapons of World War II, by Bruce N. Canfield

Here's a good one with more specifics on American handguns:

U.S. Handguns of World War II, The Secondary Pistols and Revolvers, by Charles W. Pate
