12-20-2013, Pretty day here, Brand new Remington 700 308 cal. Varmint weight barrel, range 300 yds, 168 gr sierra match bullet, 41.4 IMR 4320, WW primer. scope is Bushnell 10X Tactical Elite, temp was 58 no wind. 1/2" steel plate. Best 300 yd group I have ever fired and a completely factory stock rifle with no tweaking. I think it is a keeper. Printed out the pic and it will hang on the gun room wall! Carried a M40 in a land far far away back in '68 for a bit, always wanted one somewhat like that green stocked rifle

BTW this rifle was purchased as a ADL at Dick's sporting goods for 403.00 out the door, I bought a BDL TG and box Mag on ebay for $60.00 shipped and a new SPS BDL factory stock for $52.00 shipped also on ebay, for a total rifle investment of 515.00 minus the 249.00 scope.

Good shootin no matter where you're at.According to some, you're lucky to get a new Remington to go off 4 times in a row.Seriously, that is spectacular shooting.

What decent scope did you get for $249? I'm wondering if it is a Bushnell- I've been reading that their value line scopes shoot as well as some of the high dollar premium lines.

You're almost my neighbor. Nice shooting. Was this rifle one of the camo stocked 700s they had on special? My buddy got one, I'll have to show him this so he knows what the gun is capable of.

Yes it was one of the woodland cammo stocks. Bought it in Sept, never fired it with the ADL stock, just bought the parts to made it a SPS and fired it for the first time Friday the 20th. Was considering putting it in a tactical stock, but after these results it is going to stay exactly like it is.

One other thing, I sighted it in at 100, then moved to 300 using the mildot, wonder what it would of done with crosshairs? After near 60 yrs of shooting I'll be the first to admit a lot of luck was involved, but heck I'll take it.

As posted it is the Bushnell Tactical Elite 10X, I liked the reports I read about it, went to my local gun shop and compared it to glass costing alot more and felt it was the best value for the money. I also like fixed power scopes, I got into them when the USMC mounted fixed power Smith and Benders on their M40, tried it and liked it. The way I see it, no pun implied, when I am looking at a target 300 yds away with a 10X it is like looking at something 30 yds away, even with my 68 yr old eyes that is not a problem. What ever scope you get you might save a bunch of money if you can live with a fixed power. Considering buying another Bushnell 10X for my other Rem 700 308, and replacing my vintage 3 X 9 Redfield. And yes to answer the questions, I have fired rifles with scopes costing north of 2K, were they great yes, were they clear and bright yes, were they worth that kind of money to me compared to the lowly Bushnell, no, your mileage might vary.
