As some of you may know, I have been looking for target/varmint style rifles. While in Sportsmans Wharehouse looking at the remington xr-100 and Savage 10FCS w/ HS stock, I looked to my left and found a Remington VLS chambered for .243 win.
The usual price they have this rifle listed for was $710-$720 (somewhere around there). But this one chambered for .243 was on sale for $650. I was wondering if this would be a good deal, or am I better off going with the 4750 XR-100 or the $850 Savage with the HS precision stock on it. I've also been considering a Ruger no 1 in 22-250.
I really like the looks and lines of the VLS but was wondering how well it shot. I was looking to save up enough this summer to get a rifle that could put a 3 to 5 shots into one ragged hole at 100 yards.
The way I look at it, if I go with the VLS, I'll have enough for a scope.
