I wanted a 1911 in 9mm, but I live in California which severely limits one's choices. My FFL talked me into buying a Rock Island Armory .38 Super 1911 GI version and getting a 9mm barrel. So that's what I did. Hooper Gun Works stocks RIA 9mm barrels. I saw some YouTube videos of successful conversions. My barrel arrived today. It dropped right in using the bushing that came with the .38 super barrel. Reasonably good lock up even with the 9mm barrel being a few thousands smaller than the .38 Super. The RIA is inexpensive 425 at Buds and the barrel was 80. Going to shoot it tomorrow.
I'm liking all the info on 1911's on the interwebs. More upgrades to come. Could be a fun little project!
