In the good old days (83 or 84) a local shop had a load of these at $99.00 each as PD trades. I bought three and had them refinished in brushed hard chrome at just over $50.00 each. Sold 2 to guys I worked with and kept the other quite awhile until trading it off for something else I did not "really need". They were broken in real well and well maintained.

IMHO the sickest pumpgun action at the best average joe price anyone is apt to run across. And they used to be cheaper than that, till inflation got here. 8^)

From what I can tell upon cursory examination of one specimen, the Rock Island Armory M5 shotgun (see http://www.centerfiresystems.com/ac-sgn-m5.aspx ) is pretty much a clone of the old High Standard, with the addition of another action bar. Might be worth considering, for anyone seriously looking for a decent inexpensive shotgun. I don't know how well these will hold up over time, as I have not heard any long term owner reports about them.
