I'll be moving to the Cincinnati area soon and would like to know what the best gun shops and ranges are in the area.

I used to live there so I know of Target World, but TW seems to be getting worse every time I go there.

So, where's the best place to shoot? The best place for gunsmith work? Best gun prices? What about for FFL transfers?

I'm really going to miss my current shop/range and I hope I can find somewhere as good in Cincinnati.

Thanks!

I have friends there, but am not real familiar with the area. I think there is a pretty big store w/ range in Sharonville that I remember shooting at. Actually, I think that Sharonville has many gunshops, from what I remember them saying.

One that I found interesting is a little hole-in-the-wall store (Old Milford Gun Shop) that has a lot of C&R stuff in "downtown" Milford. Milford also has a private gun club that is supposed to be nice. When I'm there visiting now, I go with my friends to Brown or Adams county and shoot on some of their relatives' farms.

KY & IN are within commuting distance and both are gun friendly. Consider them. I didn't say anything about living in Cincinnati proper, as I didn't think anyone here would be dumb enough to make that mistake - the city isn't much in itself and the best thing I can say for it is I like the chili (one Empress 4-way please).

What part of the area are you moving to? If you are going to be living north of 275 suggestions of a place to shoot an hour south of you isn't going to be too useful. As was mentioned, don't live in the city itself. There are plenty of places within a reasonable driving distance of downtown (if that is where you are going to be working) that are much more responsible with your tax dollars and much safer to live in.

There aren't a whole lot of traditional gun shops in the area but there are a few. However none (that I've found) are worth a real long drive if you are living on the opposite side of the metro area.

I like shooter's supply shop, it is located in loveland, ohio and I have had them do a transfer but I usually buy stuff or have them order it in for me.

There is a place in fairfield, gary's guns or something along those lines. Sort of an old boy shop and I have not been there in a long while. The milford shop mentioned is on one side of the street and there is another one across the street and down maybe a block. I have only been in it once but the guy had a lot of neat old stuff, he was not interested in ordering anything so I wandered off. I do not know what all he gets into since he does not seem to stock normal gun store stuff like ammo and what not.

I live a couple hours east now, but there are some other places around if you play in the phone book. The only indoor range I know of is target world.

If you run a search you should come up with a few threads for folks in ohio and what not.

I forgot to mention that there is another indoor range down in NKY (Mark's on Dixie in Florence/Erlanger). Similar in many respects to Target World, however most people I know don't shoot there (I've shot there a few times but go elsewhere if there is a convienent alternative).
